lm-sensors on Sun hardware
Hey guys and gals, Anyone have any experience with getting lm-sensors to run on Sun hardware? In particular Sunfire x2250 and x4170 I was running 5.3 on these boxes and sensors-detect would not find anything. I did a bit of research and as I recall thanks to this list discovered some bugs that were affecting me, so upgraded to 5.7. CPU temp sensors were then detected, but no fan sensors. At

biggest disk partition on 5.8?
Hey folks, I have a Sun J4400 SAS1 disk array with 24 x 1T drives in it connected to a Sunfire x2250 running 5.8 ( 64 bit ) I used 'arcconf' to create a big RAID60 out of (see below). But then I mount it and it is way too small This should be about 20TB : [root at solexa1 StorMan]# df -h /dev/sdb1 Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sdb1 186G 60M

RAID card selection - JBOD mode / Linux RAID
I don't think this is off topic since I want to use JBOD mode so that Linux can do the RAID. I'm going to hopefully run this in CentOS 5 and Ubuntu 12.04 on a Sunfire x2250 Hard to get answers I can trust out of vendors :-) I have a Sun RAID card which I am pretty sure is LSI OEM. It is a 3G/s SAS1 with 2 external connectors like the one on the right here :

isw_xxxxxxxx missing?
Hi all, I've installed CentOS 5.2 on a sun x2250. The installer goes fine and I can setup my root with lvm on /dev/ mapper/isw_xxxxxxxx_Volume0, that is the hardware RAID1 for two disks available. As the system boots lvm complains of a duplicate PV and decides to use /dev/sda, so the physical disk, not the raid device... I see with surprise that the raid device is missing! Needless to

which server to buy?
Hello! Please, help me, I''m totally lost choosing basic budget server for XEN. The variants are Sun (X2200 M2 or Sun X2250 M2) or maybe HP Proliant DL160 G5p. Or maybe some IBM server? Which X2200 configuration will perform better, two Opteron dual-core 22xx or single quad-core 23xx? Which one performing better nowadays, Opteron or Xeon? I know that 2-3 years ago Opteron was the

lm_sensors on Sun (x86) Hardware
Hey folks, I'm running RHEL 5.3 on 6 boxes - and on every one of them sensors-detect finds nothing. 5 of them are Sun fire 2250 machines, and 1 is Sunfire 4170. Googling and searching this list does not seem to find anything. When I log into the Sun hardware management interface (web interface) I see that it of course is correctly detecting various temperatures of things. But for some

X4500 ILOM thinks disk 20 is faulted, ZFS thinks not.
Hey Guys, Have any of y''all seen a condition where the ILOM considers a disk faulted (status is 3 instead of 1), but ZFS keeps writing to the disk and doesn''t report any errors? I''m going to do a scrub tomorrow and see what comes back. I''m curious what caused the ILOM to fault the disk. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Jason P.S. The system is

process accounting on 5.7
Hey folks, I turned on process accounting and had a peek at the man page for dump-acct but I am still left wondering how best to make use of this info. We want to be able to produce some monthly stats on which labs are using how much of our clusters. I know our clustering software has the ability to do this but unfortuantely not everyone uses the cluster commands as much as I keep reminding

segfaults with 8 gig of ram
Hello All. I have five Centos 4.4 x86_64 (amd fx-62) boxes with 4 gig of Corsair dual channel ram running kernel 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL (smp). The sixth box is the same except for video card and ram. It is using 8gig of GSkill dual channel ram and has a very cheap ATI video card in it. This box will segfault on boot unless I use noapic acpi=off and nolapic. Even with these boot params, the box is not

Interesting Pool Import Failure
Hello... Since there has been much discussion about zpool import failures resulting in loss of an entire pool, I thought I would illustrate a scenario I just went through to recover a faulted pool that wouldn''t import under Solaris 10 U5. While this is a simple scenario, and the data was not terribly important, I think the exercise should at least give some piece of mind to those who

Stepwise logistic discrimination - II
I apologise for writing again about the problem with using stepAIC + multinom, but I think the reason why I had it in the first place is perhaps there may be a bug in either stepAIC or multinom. Just to repeat the problem, I have 126 variables and 99 cases. I don't know if the large number of variables could be the problem. Of couse the reason for doing a stepwise method is to reduce this

memtest86+.. How do I load it with pxelinux?
I've just spent at least half an hour swapping files, downloading things and stuffing around with memtest86 and memtest86+. I can't get either to start from pxelinux. Currently I have "memtest86" as the filename, and i'm trying to load it direct (not trying to use memdisk or anything). This just results in a near instant reboot. Am I doing something wrong? I can't

Proper way to boot memtest86
Hello list, any try the new memtest86 v3.2 with isolinux 3.11 cd and pxeboot? How is the proper way to chainload memtest86 I was tried: label memtest kernel memtest.bin but, nothing happens just a weird hang (my older versions of memtest hangs too). Anyway chainloading in a floppy image with memdisk on CD or pxeboot was fine but if I use memory to emulate a floppy I was not using this memory

Is there anyway I can write a script which feed input datasource from stdin and let R process it (maybe frequency report) then output the report to stdout? memtest86 problem
Hi! At first thanks for your great work! I started to make multiboot CDs 1,5 years ago, with Bart Lagerweij 's utils. I have a problem with the memtest86 floppy image, made by the authors in the .zip file, downloadable from it's homepage, when I use diskemu. Some days ago I found on Bart's page a new method to select boot images on CD with syslinux/isolinux/memdisk. I thought this is

forcing yum to download but not install
Hey folks, Is there any way to fake a "yum update" just to get yum to force a download of all the files it needs, without actually installing them. I finally have a RPM cache/proxy working and I just want to populate it. The server I want to actually update cannot be updated until tomorrow but I'd like to do a fake update just to force the RPMs into my cache so they will all be
