NUT for iOS
I spent now a few hours in the attempt to get NUT installed and up and running. I'm just fed up with this type of wasting time. There should be a simple app I can download and install and a GUI for the configuration. No fiddling around with multiple config files, setting up services to autostart, etc. That feels so much like the 90s when I started with computers. I'm over that time?

Why not make money and sell Network UPS Tools App on the Mac and iOS App Stores?
Hello Devs of NetworkUPS Tool.Org,
Like many people I have a UPS (CypberPower BR850ELCD) connected via USB to my Synology NAS but I would like my LAN clients (Apple Mac) to be able to get information about the status of the UPS, the UPS battery etc.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a Network UPS Tools App on either the iOS or Mac App stores. Surely this would be a golden opportunity for

Issue with slave FSD notification on Windows port of NUT
I have the latest version of the Windows port of NUT installed on my Windows?7?machine. The UPS is connected via serial cable to the Windows machine. I also have my Synology NAS (which uses NUT) connected over the local network as a slave to the Windows NUT master. The Synology slave is configured to immediately go into "safe mode" whenever an FSD or OB+LB indication is received from the

Apple Mac slave
Hello,
I am running NUT on a Synology NAS with attached a USB APC UPS.
I am trying to connect and shutdown a Mac OS X system.
I have installed the NUT software and it looks like there is connection with the master but when battery gets low the Mac is not shutdown.
I don't know if I have to configure upssched.conf and where? On the slave (Mac) ?
It will be great to know before I will start

Joe,
Roger has a good point - the SHUTDOWNCMD should work as long as the master system

Apparently Synology has implemented it standard like this.
Upsmon.conf on the Synology NAS:
RUN_AS_USER root
I suppose this needs to be changed from a security point of view.

Mac Lion Server as slave
What is the best way to setup a Mac Lion Server as a slave? A Centos 6
server runs nut and controls the UPS. The yum epel install has a
nut-client package that has the minimum required to get monitoring working
(upsmon?)...I was wondering if there was some similar configuration for the
Mac?
Thanks,
Greg

Robbie,
The "upsrw" command contacts upsd, so it sounds like you should be able to add a user to upsd.users on the NAS, and then run something like this on the Mac:
upsrw -s battery.charge.low=80 -u upsmaster -s sekret UPS at

APC Smart UPS at a Mac Mini
Hi,
I'm using a APC Smart UPS with a Mac Mini, connected using a USB serial converter.
Works fine so far, the Mac Mini will be shut down, a NAS connected of the network to the nut on Mac Mini will also shut down, perfect.
However, the ups will not be shut down. Very unfortunate, since the Mac will not start again, if the power comes back before the batteries are completely empty.

NUT not recognising Mini-box OpenUPS 2
Hello,
Would like to see if I could get some help with this UPS on a debian
set-up. Am not the best with linux and have tried what I managed to find
elsewhere on the list so am just trying here.
1) Device seems supported:
http://networkupstools.org/ddl/Mini-Box.com/OpenUPS2.html
2) lsusb -v -d 04d8: seems to give the right parameters including product
name, max power etc from the unit

NUT not recognising Mini-box OpenUPS 2
Hi Charles,
That package is supposed to install both server and client (according to
the description at https://packages.debian.org/stretch/nut anyway). I'll
try both server and client individually later and see if that helps.
Cheers,

How to setup the NUT client on Windows?
Hi,
I have an Eaton 5SC UPS with only 1 USB communication port, but... I
need 3 devices to safely switch off in case of power failure, 2
Synology NAS and 1 PC under Windows 7 (soon 10)!
So I've decided to connect the UPS to the main NAS (via the USB
cable), enabled the "Network UPS server" on the NAS, entered the other
NAS and PC IP addresses to let them receive NUT messages in case

Hi Charles,
Thanks for your reply. So the Jessie or stretch versions will work then
since those are 2.7.2 and 2.7.4...
I will have to update my sources.list and follow this?
https://backports.debian.org/Instructions/
Will give it a go later and update either way.
Thanks,

Hi Charles,
thanks for the clarification on the libusb. that indeed does work to get
the value in ./configure.
I've tried installing a .deb
