Dear Friends, We have implemented "Asterisk" in our organization. There are 150 members in our organization. At present all are using softphones. Now, I want to buy hardphones for our staff. Can anybody suggest me that what is the best hardphone for Asterisk with low-cost? Thank you. Regards, Chandra. --------------------------------- Ring'em or ping'em. Make PC-to-phone

Systems Admin; Telecom Newbie - What do I need?
Hi, folks. I am planning on implementing Asterisk in 2006, and need to budget for it now, so I need to know what I'll need to get. My company has about 50 users, and is currently languishing on a very old Comdial PBX. All of our client computers are Macs; our servers are mostly OS X, with a couple Debians and a Red Hat. I am thoroughly experienced at systems administration, and can

scratchy sound
Hi, I'm experiencing a few (but meaningful) cases of audio distortion (or bad quality). I can't say yet how often this happens. Please listen to the following sound file: http://213.96.91.201/temp/distorted_audio_1.wav This was recorded by Asterisk while the local SIP caller was dialing out a SIP trunk (so the problem is on my side, definitely, and it doesn't seem to be related to

[OT] switches
Pardon, this might be off-topic. I'm reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_switch For a setup of ~5 agents, would I be wrong in thinking that a generic 16 port unmanaged switch would fit the bill? The first model to come up for me in an Amazon search is: http://support.netgear.com/product/fs116 Is this a reasonable choice? Would I be wrong in thinking that most any Fast

"automatic call bridging when destination is available" feature
Hi, I'd like to implement the following: Extension 101 calls 102 but 102 is busy and has no voicemail so 101 is sent to a custom IVR that says something like "extension $EXTEN is $DIALSTATUS. Please try again later or dial $CODE now to notify you as soon as $EXTN is available.". So the "notification" part is what I'm trying to figure out. The extensions are SIP (but

Hardphone deployment recommendation
I'm looking to purchase and deploy a bunch of hardphones for agent use. The phones will have to register with Asterisk and/or SER, depending on where the phones go. They need only one line, G729 codec, and no super fancy features. Preferrably something that is easy to provision. I would think the BudgeTone would be good, but then I've read so many people complaining about them, and some

10/100 voip phones and gigabit connection
hi all, just subscribed to the list and first mail, nice to be here. Hopefully i'm in the right place for this question since i'm planning a little VOIP implementation at the moment and ran in to something while going through the shopping list. i noticed that a lot of VOIP phones have a double network interface allowing you to use only 1 LAN cable for both the phone and your

Most decent phones have an ethernet passthrough (2 port) so you can plug in your PC. As long as your LAN is decent (Cat5 100baseT switched) the overhead using VoIP is

newbie uk questions...
hi: Just starting out with *, and I'm planning to heed the advice to start simple and small, but the goal i'm aiming for eventually is: *-based pbx for 10-20 seat small business, based in the UK. Users will have PoE SIP hardphones. So far so good, but two questions, both UK-specific, relating to connection to the outside world (PSTN or VoIP): - are there any UK-based VoIP providers

Good comparisons on cheaper VOIP phones
Hello list, I am doing some work for a non profit group. As part of this, I am going to be putting in a 30 handset Asterisk solution. We are trying to keep the costs down as much as possible, as this job includes cabling, I am looking at POE solutions. On the switch side, I am considering something like some Netgear ProSafe FS726TP 24 port switches, or maybe the equivalent Linksys SRW224MP 24

Your favorite desktop wifi sip hardphone ?
Hi, Which is your favorite desktop wifi sip hardphone ? I'm looking for something like http://www.mitel.com/DocController?documentId=19401 which could be easily moved from one meeting room to another. (In this specific case, finding an electrical plug to power a large desktop phone is seen more relevant than finding an PoE Ethernet plug or using a mobile handset.) Which product would you

I need to connect up to sixteen phones per building, I can use a cheap hub, but POE would be useful. Is there a cheap POE hub available? Everything I have seen has been expensive. Chris Mason

200+ analog phones connected to FXS modules
I am trying to find out the best way to replace one of our hardware PBXs. It currently has 200+ analog phones connected to it. The idea is to take advantage of the already installed phone cables (big building) so I'm trying to avoid the use of ethernet adapters (if possible). However, I'm realizing that it's an expensive setup and will definitely require two or more cooperating

Inexpensive Layer 3 Switch?
Any recommendations on an economical layer 3 switch? Preferably something that you have hands on experience with connecting to IP phones with attached PCs? Specifically I need the ability to set the VLAN in the phone to tag voice packets and to set a native VLAN on a per port basis on the switch to put the untagged packets from the attached PC into a separate VLAN. POE is not a requirement

Hotel Setup?
I am working with a small inn (under 50 rooms) that is next to a ski resort. The inn just had Cat5e Homeruns to each room installed, with a patch panel in the basement. Now it's my job to connect each of the those rooms to the Internet. I think I have a Cisco switch that I can do Private VLANS with, however I thought of another solution. Has anybody seen or does anybody know of a VoIP
