Possible new rsync bug
Hello, I think I found a bug in rsync. I checked the TODO and the issues, but I didn't find any reference to it. It seems, that rsync goofes up, if you rename a directory and then create a symlink with the old name to the new location. Below is a simple example how to do it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [ptriller] elmore:~/test > ls

dataframe: visualization as tiles(?)
Dear R users, I remember seeing somewhere a method of visualizing a set of observations on two variables x and y in the following way x=0 x=1 |-------| |-------| y=-1 | | | | |-------| | | | | |-------| | | | | |-------| y=0 | | | | |-------| |-------| | | |-------| |-------| y=1 | | |-------| |-------| |-------| where x = 0 or 1; y = -1, 0,

Any ideas for the most efficient algoritm to reshuffle tiles based on this description.
This was exactracted from a 8192x4 texture, with 32x4 tiles. 4 patterns appears, each 8x128 bytes long. these patterns are repeated, and one is always left out. So 123, 234, 134, 124. The repetetive cycle is therefore 4x3x8x128 = 12288 bytes long. I've included the color code ods file, which contains the normal -> actual position. I have no idea how this goes for larger tiles (is the

Shared Call and Bridged Line appearances on Polycom IP501
Greetings, I am trying to get either of the above features to work with *, but can't seem to get it quite right. If anyone has them working, I'd sure appreciate an extract from the relevant config files. Or, maybe I'm tilting at windmills, and * doesn't support them - in which case, the underlying business need is to provide the one incoming call on more than one

R-demo for non-statisticians/mathematicians
Hi all. A friend of mine asked me to assist with an R presentation to the Penn State LUG in a few weeks. The audience will be predominately computer scientists and/or engineers (I suspect) and they are just looking for presentations of good open source software and my friend volunteered R. We are both relatively new to R, so I thought it would be best to ask the list for your opinion....what do

redhat 7.0 trouble
Hi. I am running R 1.2.1 on an i686 (dell laptop). I can do simple things like defining vectors, plot, etc... however when I use the function smooth.spline() or demo(lm.glm), I get the following error and it kicks me out of R: /usr/lib/R/bin/R.bin: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/R/bin/R.bin: symbol __sysconf, version GLIBC_2.2 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time

Mounts on Mac, Linux but not Win98 - bad password
I am trying to set up Samba for the very first time in my life on a SlackWare Linux 7.1 system. I'm using kernel 2.4.2, and the Samba 2.0.7 that comes precompiled with Slackware 7. I'm only moderately clueful at this point, but I have experience with other Linux and networking stuff. I can build Samba from sources if you think that would help. I ran through the diagnostic tests given

REPOST: Musings on Rails and logging philosophies
[OK, since I stupidly posted this over the July 4th week[end] and got no responses, let''s try it again...] As a perpetual Rails dabbler, I make an awful lot of typical beginner mistakes. And the logs are always either too verbose or too sparse to help me. And it started me thinking. I came from one of the largest production OLTP systems in the world, and the one thing that helped

latticeExtra tileplot question - tiles are not all the same size, need help.
Hello, I have been creating many tileplots to try and illustrate the relative abundance of fish through space and time. My issue is that the tiles that border the plot are smaller than those in the center of the plot. In the example I've provided the effect is pretty minor (I'm hoping this will be an adequate example as I had the code already created/data uploaded). However, I have other

Using tilt in ActionView?
Hey friends, I was wondering what is the current opinion on using tilt in ActionView? Right now, there''s a lot of code in AV::Template/ TemplateHandler etc. which is nicely implemented in tilt. I''m currently refactoring the AV layer (private interest ;-) using tilt and it makes the whole thing much more readable and easier to follow. What do you guys think? I know there was a
