Regarding basic block layout/code placement optimizations of profile guided optimization (PGO)
Hi, I would like to learn the details regarding what exactly PGO does for basic block layout/code placement optimizations in llvm. Could you please point me to some descriptions? Is it close to this paper (Karl Pettis and Robert C. Hansen. 1990. Profile guided code positioning. PLDI'90) http://perso.ensta-paristech.fr/~bmonsuez/Cours/B6-4/Articles/papers15.pdf? Whether it is purely

package "plotrix"
I installed package plotrix because reading its vignette it looks like it can help me solve a "legend" problem. The package instaleed correctly on my Mac OS/X 10.5.8 But I cannot reproduce the examples centered on function "lgendg". > library(plotrix) > plot(0.5,0.5,xlim=c(0,1),ylim=c(0,1),type="n", + main="Test of grouped legend function") >

Secure apt
I am trying to add Michael Rutter's ppa to my repository.? I cannot do this from the command line.? I think I may be behind a firewall so copying the key to a text file is my best option.? When I search for the key at http://keyserver.ubuntu.com:11371/ the search fails. Tried typing and cutting and pasting E084DAB9 into the search box without success. How can I get the key?

Sun Java module for RedHat
Hi. I googled for this thoroughly but couldn''t find any module that actually worked. Is there any good puppet module or manifest for installing Sun JDK? How to upgrade from 2.15.1 to 2.15.1 patched?
Hi, I would like to upgrade R-2.15.1 to R-2.15.1 patched (under Ubuntu 12.04). What's the recommended way to do so? I did the following steps for installing R under Ubuntu 12.04 (as far as I remember, Dirk Eddelbuettel recommended this and helped me on several occasions with the installation): 1) sudo emacs /etc/apt/sources.list 2) add: deb http://stat.ethz.ch/CRAN/bin/linux/ubuntu

installing java on ubuntu 11.10 installation
Dear list members, I am starting to get acquainted with linux on a ubuntu 11.10 installation on an external hard disk. I have just installed R and all the packages available in the r-cran-* list. Now, I would like to get on with the installation of packages like Deducer and Acinonyx. The former requires JGR which in turn requires Java. I have tried to follow the instructions available at the

Would it make sense for xray instrumentation be part of -fprofile-generate? PGO will affect inlining decisions etc for the optimized binary, but the collected traces during the instrumented build would still have quite a bit of useful information. -- Sean Silva On Mon, Jan 16, 2017 at 4:33 PM, Xinliang David Li <xinliangli at gmail.com> wrote: > Google GCC records profile data (dynamic

http proxies: setting and unsetting
Hi, I am trying to use R at work and at home on the same computer. At work, I have a proxy, and at home, I do not. I have, for work, a User environment variable "http_proxy" which I set in the OS (Windows XP Pro). When I am at work, and I try to retrieve data from the web with 'read.csv', things work just fine. I assume it knows how to use the proxy. The trouble is when I

That’s a very good point, the X-ray data that would be useful for the linker should be collected from a "profile-use” build to be accurate. IIUC, that’d look like: build with profile-gen -> run benchmarks -> build with profile-use + Xray -> run benchmarks -> build with profil-use and feed linker with X-ray data for layout optimization. — Mehdi > On Jan 16, 2017, at 8:25
