server max protocol appropriate values
Hi Gaiseric, Do you happen to run into any oplock(opportunistic locking) issues? On my DC I have these issues with my group policy files. I'm hopeful using smb 2.0 will fix this problem. Thanks. Suddenly Windows clients can't join Samba+ldap PDC anymore
You should be able to unbind ipv6 for the win 10 machine's network interface. does "nslookup SRV1" work? Also, you may want to try running tcpdump or ethereal or wireshark on our PDC and see what traffic is captres. Hi, thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, i enabled wins through "wins support = yes", i also enabled lmhosts lookup and wins on all clients but will check it as you proposed. Tomorrow will try to disable ipv6 on Windows clients following this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929852 Which process did you follow to disable IPV6? I'm also wondering if it's really necessary

Windows user unable to change password over VPN with samba 3.6.20
I realize this is not a strictly a samba "problem" but I am hoping that there is a samba solution. I have a samba 3.6.20 PDC. I am running WINS. We use an IPSec client VPN to allow users with Windows 7 laptops to connect to the office remotely. The windows 7 laptops are joined to the Samba domain. Password expiration policies are enforced. When you login to

can connect to 2 samba servers by name but to one by IP only
I have a samba domain with a Samba 3.4.x PDC (compiled from source on Solaris 10) and two Samba 3.0.x BDC's (Sun-bundled Samba on Solaris 10.) XP clients use DHCP. When on the LAN, DHCP includes WINS server (the WINS server is one of the Samba 3.0.x machines.) We also have a VPN for remote client access for Windows XP machines. XP machines could include home PC's (not in the domain)

Xrdp
The VNC server just listens to the appropriate TCP/IP port and then runs Xvnc which does the actual VNC communication. Ideally I'd be able to do the same thing for RDP then the daemon doesn't get any more complicated, and a bug in the RDP layer can't crash the server. I don't know enough about how NX works but I suspect we could do the same thing as for VNC and RDP. I'm

MS Remote Desktop issue related to Samba 4 ?
Hi all, I am currently struggling with an odd MS Remote Desktop issue which might be related to our Samba4 AD (version: 4.2.0pre1-GIT-d7c22d5 domain/forest-level 2008_R2) setup. We are unable to connect to Win7 machines (all available latest patches installed) via RDP after they have been joined to the domain. We have made sure, that RDP is enabled and the firewall exceptions are in place. We

Suddenly Windows clients can't join Samba+ldap PDC anymore
I was trying to fix a problem on Windows 10 with Outlook 2013. Also running an NT4-style domain. The machine had already been joined to the domain and outlook had been working but recently not (probably after patch tuesday.) I also had had problems with Win 10 mail and RDP. I came across the following link.

Unable to contact active directory or verify claim types
I am running several Solaris 11 file servers with samba 4.7.6. This is an AD domain but the domain controllers are Win 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2. All users and groups in AD have unix uidNumbers and gidNumbers assigned. On one file server, I am having problems where some users can not access files , via windows, to which they should have access as the group member. For example,

samba 4.2 RDP problem
Hi Heinz, did you ever resolved this RDP issue? Or found any hints about the possible DNS problems? We run into the same problem here with Win 8.1 Pro clients.
