Ok, ACLs now work, but I now it's appeared another problem.
I can only access to my samba+winbind server from Windows Server AD DC
and from itself (smbclient -Uadministrator -L server-dati).

gui win2k interface for managing ACL or quota ?
hi,
I have a question here:
May I use the win2k gui interface for adding a user rights to a file (I
mean with ACL, equivalent to "setfacl -m u:test:rwx myfile" for example)
OR
May I use the setfacl command or another tool like acl tool into webmin
(I use it and it works good) ?
Cause I have tryed to add rights for a user onto a file into gui
windows, but the logs say that I don'

Error joining Win2K domain: ads_connect: DSA is unavailable
I'm running 3.0alpha (both current CVS pull and alpha20 from dist) and trying to have my samba server join our already in place Win2K ADS domain. I am able to 'kinit user@DOMAIN' and auth successfully, but upon attempting 'net ads join', I get the following:
# net ads join -Uadministrator

Samba newbie question...
Can Samba be used as a complete replacement for a Windows 2000 Active Directory server? I have some vague notion that this can be accomplished by using a combination of OpenLDAP, Samba, MIT Kerberos, and the OpenAFS file system. To say the least, the descriptions I have found have been vague as to whether or not I will be able to completely replace the functionality of an Active Directory server

map to two different win2k shares with two different accounts?
I try and map to two separate shares as two separate users (default RH 7.3 installed rpms) from a win2k client (plaintext passwords, not a pdc or anything just a workgroup server) - First one maps fine, second gets:
[Windows error dialog]: The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password.

how to define new folders ACL
Hi folks,
I've a working samba 4.1 DC + a 4.1 member server, winbind and UID GID

I have all the shares on member server, and the UNIX permissions are set
to 770 Administrator:DomainUsers. To rule other permissions I generally
use the Security TAB ACLs.
my problem is:
when a user create a new subfolder only he can access to it (and no
other from DomainUsers), unless I change the

Connection of Linux/Unix clients to Samba PDC
We replaced our Win2k PDC with a Samba PDC and have all Windows clients are
connecting. But we are having difficulty logging on with the Linux and Unix
servers to this domain. Is there something that must be done differently
for them to connect?

Win2k DC no longer authenticates for Samba shares
I have a win2k domain ... 2 of the client machines are Red Hat (7.3 and
8.0). I set everything up to use the DC to authenticate ID/PW. Everything
worked perfectly until a week or so ago ... Samba would automatically create
a home folder and the whole nine yards. Now I can see the shares on the
Samba machines, but I can't access them ... just prompts for the ID/PW over
and over. I can mount

Steam will not load after update
I had Steam/TF2 working. Using Suse 11.1 64-bit, Nvidia card/driver, 4Gb RAM, 2.6 Intel Quad CPU. ALSA sound (pulse audio uninstalled), Windows Vista, full settings in winecfg. My TF2 crashed and when I started Steam again, the Steam update downloaded and installed. Then Steam wouldn't start any more.
I tried a new .wine dir. Followed instructions for removing/reinstalling Steam. Nada.

Number -> Fraction
Hi everybody!
I'm new to this list and also to the R program.
I'd like to know if there is a function able to convert results into
Fractional form like my scientific calculator have. For example:
> 1/3
[1] 0.3333333
> function_that_return_a_fraction_from_numbers(0.3333333)
[1] 1/3

Printer not accessible! Plea
Martin,
There is a great deal more that needs to be done other then the creation
of a smb.conf file for setting up a PDC for any Windows workstations.
Unfortunately, I only have experience with setting up a PDC for a mixed
bag of Windows 9x, Windows NT 4.0 and Win2K systems. The only WinXP
machine we utilize is one laptop, which is rarely ever attached to the
corporate network. So,

SGI XFS 1.0.2a, ACLs and samba 2.2.3a with win2k perms
Hi,
I haven't been able to find any doco that explicity states whether it is
supported, so I am hoping someone out there can answer the following
questions:
Is it possible for a folder/file in a samba share to have win2k security
permissions assigned to it? For example, I want my samba server to
participate in an existing Win2k domain. I want users to be able to set

Win2k auth on named share fails on mixed Windows network.
Hi there,
Background:
Samba 3.6.6 compiled from source on Debian Squeeze using the Debian-
installed Kerberos (1.8.3) libraries. Running in an Active directory
domain with mixed Win2k Server and Win2k3 Server DCs. Yes, I've been
trying to persuade them. Both WINS and DNS name resolution work on
the system. Samba uses the DCs for WINS, and the DCs are also name
servers with an additional

how many hosts could be down in a 12x(4+2) distributed dispersed volume?
Dear All,
I just implemented a (6x(4+2)) DISTRIBUTED DISPERSED gluster (v.3.10) volume based on the following hardware:
- 3 gluster servers (each server with 2 CPU 10 cores, 64GB RAM, 12 hard disk SAS 12Gb/s, 10GbE storage network)
Now, we need to add 3 new servers with the same hardware configuration respecting the current volume topology.
If I'm right, we will obtain a DITRIBUTED

Hi All,
any news about this issue?
Can I ignore this kind of error message or I have to do something to correct it?
Thank you in advance and sorry for my insistence.
