client samba swichover when when Primary Domain controler is down.
Hi everyone, I have a question regrading samba client. I am using samba version 3.3.9 on Linux RedHat server 5 OS. I also have installed 2 Domain Controllers on windows 2008 R2 and with Active Directory. One domain controller is primary and the other one is backup. I ran a test that bring down the primary Domain controller. I expected that samba would recognize that the primary Domain controller

Adding Domain User Accounts to Windows 7 Clients (Samba3.4.8 PDC)
SNIP > > > Does anybody have any ideas? I've run into this. It's a real bear. I've found that a proper WINS setup is very useful, but more important is to find out what is going on during the wire transactions. Google the appropriate one of these tools for your platform: NM33_x64.exe NM33_x86.exe install it and see what's occuring during the transactions. Post

NT - Not allowed from this workstation
I am the sysadmin in an office with an overabundance of Win95 machines and a few NT 4.0 workstations. All installs went relatively easy for logon scripts, wins, etc. I have run into a semi-serious problem with 2 of the 3 NT workstations. (All running the same service pack - 1). When trying to make a share from one of the 2 remaining workstations, I will recevie an error message saying that:

rsync 3.0.2 with --fileflags on FreeBSD: cannot rsync hardlinked immutable files
Hi *, it seems rsync with --fileflags isn't able to work on (already) hardlinked and immutable ("schg") files on FreeBSD. The following scripts will create a simple example for this behaviour: -------------------------------------------------------------- #! /bin/sh # # set -x DIR="/var/tmp/rsync_$(date +%s)/" mkdir "${DIR}/" # Preparing dir_A mkdir

freebsd ports config, cache distfiles
Hi everyone, first post. I''ve got Puppet installed on a FreeBSD 8.3 client & server from the guides, and deploying simple packages from the default node and a node which inherits it. I have /usr/ports mounted via NFS from the puppet server. I have two queries now: 1. For more complicated packages, a config dialogue comes up (i.e. cd /usr/ports/category/port; make config). How do

0.24.2 release candidate
Hi all, I''ve done as much bug-fixing as I''m going to be able to do in 0.24.2, I think, so please test the current code if you can. I made some unfortunately significant changes today, in order to try to remove any shared objects in the file server, which will hopefully solve the file corruption issues, plus some very strange issues resulting from renaming

samba-3.3.4 AD/krb5/pam build failure on AIX 5.3/6.1 UNKNOWN_CREATE_KEY_FUNCTIONS
Hi all! Perhaps someone here could tell me if this has been seen before. We're trying to build samba-3.3.4 for IBM AIX with support for PAM, Active Directory, and Kerberos. The end goal is to be able to join the AIX system to our Active Directory domain so that users can log in via their AD username/password, and have access to their home directory via the Windows pass-through authentication
