MMC crashes with rc6
Hello, I am having a problem after performing a classicupgrade with rc6. This did not happen with previous RCs. When adding any of the AD MMC snap-ins from a member computer, MMC crashes with the error below. I have the provision scripted and am using the same ldif, smb.conf and /var/lib/samba, so I'm fairly certain the only difference is rc6. I am testing with a Win 7 VM image that was

new clients in PDC
hi all Every time I include some machine with Windows XP on my PDC domain, I get the message say me that the user is not the owner of profile folder... Then, I run MMC Console and add a snap-in, changing some parts in Computer -> Administrative Models -> Don't check owner profile folder and other function, called "Always accept only local profile"... Well, when I have 3 ou 5

Samba 3.0 and Win2000 PoliciesHi,
Hi, I have Samba 3.0 and win2000 clients. I can join the domain with my machine and after a reboot I can log in as a domain user without problem. In fact I log in as the domain admin. Good! Then, I try to play with the policies and I launch the MMC snap in called "Active Directory Users and Computers" as described in the SAMBA HOWTO COLLECTION chapter 23.2.3.1. When I launch the snap in

Samba-4.3 FreeBSD-10.3 Roaming Profiles and User Home Drive Shares
We have set up a Samba-4.3 AD-DC on a FreeBSD-10.3 BHyve guest configured with UFS stoarge. The samba_server is provisioned and we can join the Domain and configure the server remotely using MMC snap-ins running on a MS Win-v7Pro workstation. We are at the point where we are implementing roaming profiles. We have followed the instructions found at:

Samba4 - Manage DNS with MMC shows "ghost" Entries
Hi, We wanted to deploy Samba4 in our existing Samba3 Environment. So far everything (migrating the user data etc) went quite well, but after the initial domain-deployment we are seeing ghost entries or random data in our "DNS" MMC snap-in on our windows client. Every refresh triggers a new view. Basically it is the problem/bug outlined here:

Samba 4 internal DNS - how to modify SOA record
Hello, I have the very same problem, does anybody know a way? I am thinking of converting to BIND, modifying and then converting it back to Internal DNS implementation. >>>> Hello. How could one modify a SOA record in rc3? For example, NS part (not NS record) of SOA record points to an absent Windows server. This effectively breaks DNS updates, since there is no such server and if

Windows2000 policies in a Samba PDC
I'm installing a Samba 3.0 PDC with LDAP backend in a classroom in a Spanish school. Client workstations are Windows2000 and, in the future, there will be Linux clients. I'm following the Samba Project Documentation book (also known as Samba Howto Collection). The document is wonderfull, but there is a part that I don't fully understand, maybe because, as you can read, I'm not a

When I try to use the Group Policy snap-in to connect to my samba 2.2.1 servers, I see the windows box do a Tree Connect Andx to ADMIN$\System32\GroupPolicy, and then the samba box responds with

New attributes in Samba AD
Hello James, About the warning, I only accept it and try to create a new attribute/class. However, when I put all the parameters (name, OID, syntax...), the system accuses that the server is unable to proceed. Do you know if Samba's schema is closed, that cannot be modified? mandatory profiles, group policies, Samba3 PDC winxp Clients
Hello all, I've been trying to figure out what the best way of doing the group policy thing is. We are running samba 3 on slackware 9 with winxp clients. We are a school. i'm unclear on how much AD is actually supported... OU GPO all that. so i decided to go the "administrative template" way (used to be .pol files) I'm thinking of having the students run off of a
