static analysis tool cppcheck meets the btrfs code - four issues
Hello there, I just ran the sourceforge tool cppcheck over the source code of the new Linux kernel 2.6.32.4 It said 1. [./btrfs/free-space-cache.c:600]: (style) Redundant condition. It is safe to deallocate a NULL pointer The source code is                 if (info->bitmap)                         kfree(info->bitmap); I agree with cppcheck. Suggest delete the if test. 2.

Looping multiple dimensions
Dear all, I have 30 arrays, each with dimensions 720,360,12. The naming format for each of these 30 objects is: mrunoff_5221, mrunoff_5222... mrunoff_5250. For example: > str(mrunoff_5221) ? num [1:720, 1:360, 1:12] NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA ...? (the initial NA's are nothing to worry about) I am looking for a way by which I can extract each of the third dimension of these grids

scientific (statistical) foundation for Y-RANDOMIZATION in regression analysis
Dear all, I am a statistician doing research in QSAR, building regression models where the dependent variable is a numerical expression of some chemical activity and input variables are chemical descriptors, e.g. molecular weight, number of carbon atoms, etc. I am building regression models and I am confronted with a widely a technique called Y-RANDOMIZATION for which I have difficulties in

New Xen User

Or am i looking at an old website? Because the version on xen.org is 3.5.4 and the version on citrix is 5.5. Thanks, Matthew Millar

Trendline for a subset of data
Dear all, I am using abline(lm ...) to insert a linear trendline through a portion of my data (e.g. dataset[,36:45]). However, I am finding that whilst the trendline is correctly displayed and representative of the data portion I've chosen, the line continues to run beyond this data segment and continues until it intersects the vertical axes at each side of the plot. How do I display the

Partial Credit Models using eRm
Hello all, I have just started using fitting the PCM (Partial Credit Model) using eRm and have 2 problems which I cannot solve, I have checked everywhere on the net, but no joy: Firstly, I have fit a PCM model to 10 variables with differing response categories (3 for the first 6 items, 4 for the following 2 and 2 for the last two items). mat1 <- matrix(c(rasch_bart$bart_bowel,

Testing for strength of fit using R
Dear all, I am trying to validate a model by comparing simulated output values against observed values. I have produced a simple X-y scatter plot with a 1:1 line, so that the closer the points fall to this line, the better the 'fit' between the modelled data and the observation data. I am now attempting to quantify the strength of this fit by using a statistical test in R. I am no

Multi ISP ppp0 and ppp1 switching
Hi, I currently connect to my ISP via my adsl modem in bridge mode and PPPoE. I am due to put a second PPPoE ISP onto my firewall box which will give me ppp0 (general) and ppp1 (static leased line). The static leased line will run a number of services on its static IP and it is therefore imperative to make sure rules defined for the static line are assigned to the correct interface. I need this to

How to modify dots and dispatch NextMethod
Hi all, Not sure if this belongs to R-devel or R-package-devel. Anyways... Suppose we have objects of class c("foo", "bar"), and there are two S3 methods c.foo, c.bar. In c.foo, I'm trying to modify the dots and forward the dispatch using NextMethod without any success. This is what I've tried so far: c.foo <- function(..., recursive=FALSE) { dots <-

Why should I answer a Newbie question, there thick!
It would be nice just for once to actually use a mailing list with people who are a little more sympathetic to the fact that your not a rocket scentist or molecular biologist and that you might actually need some help, without being made to feel like your completely useless and should be cleaning toilets for a living. "Ahhh man not another stupid newbie question! are these people completely

windows 7 on samba 3.4.2 slow
Hello, I followed the instructions here: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7 Everything seems fine, however if I log into a domain account, Windows is now painfully slow. This is kind of curious, as task manager reports no CPU load and no network load. If I log out and back in again with a local/non-domain account, then everything runs at full speed again. Furthermore, if I disconnect

However when I have down loaded the files and am trying to 'run' them to install the software but Windows is telling me that the files are corrupted and to 'obtain a new version of the programme'. I need R for a piece of my MSc course work so would really appreciate any help or ideas.

Programs under wine can't connect to the network
Hey all Have a very strange problem in slack 8, using wine 20011004. First noticed this with counterstrike, than checked with other programs that should access the net. I get this error, and programs fail: fixme:winsock:_get_sock_fd handle 304 is not a socket (GLE 6) Documentation seems to imply that if I can get on the net with linux, I should be able to use wine with it. Weirdest part is

Remove all spaces from a string so it can be used by assign()
Hi I have a string "56 Fe [1]" that I would like to use as a variable name by using "assign" however I think the spaces and brackets might be causing R some trouble. How can I change the string so that it just becomes 56Fe1 and can be used as a variable name. Thank You Kurt _________________________________________________________________ [[elided Hotmail spam]]
