Given up on Fedora Ubuntu is 1000-folder simpler
I spent several days (at least 20 hours) tying to get Fedora 11 Samba server going. I consulted every resource that I knew including this list. When I discovered that Fedora 11 Samba could be browsed immediately upon installation, and a simple reboot disabled this, I gave up. I decided to try Ubuntu. After intallation it took only five minutes of editing the smb.conf file to make my share fully

list spam related question
In the thread "[Wine] New to Wine...and already in trouble..." there was a spam post by kizi that says it was "Sent from the Wine - Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com". Can people really send things to our list/forum from other sites/forums? It also seems odd that the reply directs a person to catch up on the thread by linking to Nabble instead of the Wine forum. It

Development Process comment and Email list suggestion
It looks like Mark and others have addressed the development/CVS issues. We should let their plan be put into effect and give it a chance to work. Regarding the email list: A number of people have suggested creating more email lists. I think this is not a good idea because there will be even more cross posting than there is now between -dev and -users. Several years ago I was a moderator on the

Can't get share to show up on windows
I have successfully set of two Samba servers under Red Hat Linux 6.0 and 9.0. I am having trouble getting Samba 3.0 Fedora Linux Samba to show up on the windows machine. I can't find the solution in either of the two books that I bought, or the online resources after spending several days working on this. I only need a relatively simple network, yet I also want it to be reasonably secure.

Switching list to subscriber-post only?
Given the recent spam epidemic, I would like to hear people's opinion on switching this list to subscribed-post only (all non-subscribers would have their posts held for moderation.) -hpa

Spam on this list
Hi all, Recently there has been a flurry of spam to this mailing list. I'm considering switching the list to "subscriber post only" as a result. If you send from and receive to different addresses (like I do, for example), you need to subscribe your send-from address as a "no mail" address. Would people object to this scheme? -hpa

Why my messages are filtered from the list?
Hello, Over the last two months I have sent two messages (same topic) to the list. None of them showed on the list. For the first, I got a message that it is in some queue and waiting for an administrator to look at it. Is the queue THAT long?! [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Meetme and authentication
Hi all, I have thoroughly read the available documentation and I can't seem to find a workaround for my setup... I'm trying to create a phone conference line that users would call using a unique phone number (no matter if they are moderators or just plain users). I use Asterisk 1.2.6 The available conferences are defined as follows: conf => 1000,user pin1, moderator pin1 conf =>

Why my messages are filtered from the list?
Now I am getting confused. I see two postings from me in the archives: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2015-May/071205.html https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2015-April/070982.html Were these actually published to the list? If so - big apology. Regards, Ivan On Fri, May 29, 2015 at 12:43 AM David Winsemius <dwinsemius at comcast.net> wrote: > > On May 28, 2015, at 9:11

Moderated list?
I've been away from this list but reentered recently. Now when I send a question I get an automated answer saying: ------- Your mail to 'R-help' with the subject .............. Is being held until the list moderator can review it for approval. The reason it is being held: Post to moderated list ------- Is this the new style of the list? G?ran

[LLVMdev] Volunteers needed to moderate sessions and staff registration desk!
Hello, I am in need of moderators to help moderate each session. If you are interested, please respond to this mail and indicate which slot you can moderate. Its a long shot as you would miss talks, but if anyone wants a break to do work or check email while also staffing the registration desk, please let me know if you can do it during any of the sessions below. Thanks! Options: Moderator #1

Metafor package: Including multiple (categorical) predictors
Dear Metafor users, I''d like to test a model with 2 continuous and 2 categorical moderators in a meta regression. One categorical parameter has 2 levels and the other has 4 levels. If I understand correctly, when I include all moderators in the model, Metafor returns main effects of the continuous parameters and contrasts of each level of categorical moderators with the intercept (which

Request for feedback
A number of years back it became necessary to limit the size of messages that could be posted to the samba mailing list. The current limit is 64 KBytes. While it continues be be desirable to block large spam messages, I believe it is time to ask current subscribers for their preferences. This list is here to serve the wishes and needs of our subscribers. We wonder if the time is right to review

xapian bug tracker registration email is not working
I tried to register yesterday, twice with 2 email addresses. The website said it sent me mail, I never got a mail. Someone else, please confirm this is broken. A bug I'd like to file is that I'd like an option to search *word. Currently you can only search word*. The example where I would find this useful is searching for urls and email addresses. For example, I want to find emals from

Youtube Video
Hi there, I've created a litle video explaining on how to setup some group policy to redirect folders using Active Directory Tools and Group Policy Management tools, it works and I've tested it so i decided to include it on my small youtube Linux collection. Hope you enjoy it and like; might be it can make it to the wiki video library. Thanks for Samba 4, it really _IS_ the thing.
