How to make "Add permission" for folder in system withntacl support?
Hi! Let's go back to this topic please! I have to replace the Windows NT 4.0 server with Samba but I still don't know how to do this. I need to allow to someone (some user group) the right to add files into the folder. They use this "feature" on current NT server ver often and to this in the following ways: 1. Rightclick on file you want to add, Copy, then go to server, for

inconsistence behavior concerning security
Hi all, I have a share for 2 groups of users in which I need this behavior: Group A: can create/delete files Group B: only can modify files I solve this with a share rw for both groups, and FS directory permissions are 2770 and groupA is the owner of the directory, and an acl for groupB which is r-x Then the default acl for this directory is rwx for GroupB, so, when something is created here,

Special functionality for Secretary/Boss
We are currently migrating from a Nortel pbx to Asterisk and we have been able to convert most of the functions that people are used to but there is one I have no clear idea how to do. The scenario is: Boss calls secretary from outside the office to get connected to another outside destination. The secretary dials the destination and then trasfers call to the boss. When boss finishes

Voicemail 0 for operator call routing
Does anyone know of a way to specify what extension is dialed when 0 is pressed in the voicemail system. I have a situation where there is more than one secretary and they want the 0 to redirect to the appropriate secretary for the two groups of people. So an example would be: 555-1234 -> voicemail -> Secretary 1 555-1235 -> voicemail -> Secretary 2 Any help would be greatly

Where did I go wrong with this Samba configuration?
I'm just about to give up in despair of getting Samba working on my network. I've browsed through several books, HOWTOs and websites and still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Before I quit, could someone double check this and maybe spot what I've missed? First, let me describe my network. Names and IP addresses have been changed to protect the innocent. :-)

3.0.24 and disappearing ACL entries
I've been working at this for a few days now and I can't figure out what is broken. Google turns up similar issues from years back, but I hope this is a bug resurfacing. ACL entries are being deleted when files are saved. Here is an example: username: user1 group membership: Domain Users directory: /share/test file: test.xls getfacl /share # file: share # owner: DOMAIN+backupuser #

Only secretary can call the boss, all others only reach the secretary when dial the boss extension
Dear all, How may I configure my extensions.conf so that only the boss's secretary can call the boss through his extension, all others when dial his extension only makes the boss's secretary phone ring, not his. If she wants, she can transfer the incoming call to the boss dialling his extension. I've tried the following, but it doesn't work: exten =>

how to realize chief - secretary (or Manager - Assistant) setup with Asterisk?
Hello, we are running a Asterisk (1.2) installation with about 80 snom phones (300,320,360). Now have the demand for a special manager - assistant setup for a few extensions. Since Shared Line Appearance is not available in 1.2 I?m wondering how to realize this... What we need is that the manager can decide whether he wants to get calls or not. If not he must have the possibility to redirect

Set up shared mailboxes for secretary-boss-relationship
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, some users are to read other users mailboxes (secretary-boss relationship), in order to filter out minor issues, SPAM, appointment requests etc. pp. The "boss" wants to see/access his/her mailbox the usual way, no fancy stuff. Furthermore, this is a N:N relationship, meaning one user needs to read one set of user's

0 out of voicemail to different secretaries
Is it possible to configure * so that if a caller reaches voicemail for someone in Engineering, but doesn't want to leave a message they can press zero (0) and reach the Engineering Secretary or if they are calling someone in Accounting and reach voicemail, pressing '0' would reach the Accounting secretary, not the Engineering secretary? Samba 4.6.2 does not inherit setgid bit (anymore)
Hi Lorenzo and Dale, My setup is like Lorenzo's completely based on setgid being propagated. The filesystem should determine the group used starting at a certain directory. Different "root" directories have different groups, and security is based on groups, not users. I tried all sorts of settings combinations, alseo "force directory mode = 2770", but none propagates

Pickup/steal calls
Hi. I am replacing a legacy Alcatel PBX for asterisk and now i'm facing a request i can't answer yet: I need to replicate the "Call Pickup" function from Alcatel, mostly when used by a secretary picking up a call from his manager. The pickup function, as i'm already using her is not enough, i need the pickedup number to be shown in the secretary phone. Is this doable, using

Problem with ACL and Samba
Dear All I am facing a strange problem that I could not solve, so, maybe you can help me. Look at this situation: I created a new directory with those ACLs (through Samba using Windows XP) [root@server /home/smb/adm]# getfacl teste #file:teste #owner:1002 #group:1006 user::rwx group::rwx group:suporte:rwx group:administ:rwx mask::rwx other::--- [root@server /home/smb/adm]# getfacl -d teste

qmail-secretary plugin for dovecot deliver
Hi, I have been using qmail-ldap for quite some time and now moved to postfix/dovecot. One feature that I miss is that provided by qmail-secretary. qmail-secretary basically is a mail list manager with following features: 1 no limit, just explode to all members 2 members only, as the name says; only members are allowed (based on envelope sender, so not very secure, everybody can fake

Samba 4.6.2 does not inherit setgid bit (anymore)
thanks for suggestion, in other words you use only ACLs for users denying all for groups, unfortunately we had many group such as domain users, secretary, finance, etc belonging to users for which we need to apply at least 770 in order to gain a simplified permission management using groups the actual dirty workaround I applied was to track new files/dir by tailing with follow ( tail -f ) a
