winXP not uploading profiles
I have installed Samba as PDC, copied "Default User" to samba (from
\Documents and Settings\Default User) and it works (I added some files
to the Desktop and they appear on new computers); but when logout,
just the profile folder of the user is created, no file is upload
inside.
Any hint? my smb.conf looks like:

Macintosh related question

First of all, i want to say thank you to all the people who helped me out the

In fact, Netatalk needed to be properly configured.
Now i'm having another Mac problem :( and i've not been able to solve it.
Well, it seems that although Macs are registering and functioning properly in
the domain, they don't appear as such to the rest of the

winbind exception made that SuSE 9.0 doesn't have pam_stack.so
SuSE 9.0 brings a module called pam_smb_auth.so which i presume is the same

Problem with trash and two partitions in samba
Good day,
I'm analyst full networks of a public office in Brazil.
We use Samba to share files between users , use the trash to move deleted files as a security issue .
In our file server have two partitions.
Noticed that the trash directory must be on the same partition as the files are , as we have two partitions , we created two dumps, only a dumpster works. I wonder , how to recycle files

When a user creates a file inside one of this folders I want it created

path = /home/samba/arees

backup
I just installed samba4 on ubuntu 14.04 from de repositories:
# samba --version
Version 4.1.6-Ubuntu
I wanted to make a backup but *samba_backup* was missing, so I download
4.1.7 using Git and configured it.
The problem is it isn't working, tar is stopping because it refuses to
create and empty file. I tracked it to the second *tar* in the script, and
*echoed* it:
# samba_backup

Random Network Failures
Okay, I've been working with Samba for a few years now, and I've figrued it
out mostly on my own. Now I'm stuck and this problem is slowing down a MAJOR
project in my shop.
Our solid SuSE 7.3 server's network is dying randomly. All services, not
just Samba (2.2.1a) go out. However, it always happens when someone is
accessing DVD projects from our NT 4.0 Spruce authoring
