Samba 3.2.0 in Debian "lenny"
After several months of testing in the "experimental" branch of
Debian, samba 3.2.0 was uploaded to Debian "unstable" as of July 20th
2008 and entered the "testing" branch of the distribution as of August
1st.
As the "testing" branch is the future stable release of the Debian
distribution, this means that Samba 3.2.0 will be in the upcoming

Samba 3.5.2 packages for Debian lenny
(please note that this mail is crossposted to 3 lists. No need to CC
me to answers, I read the 3 of them...)
Some users (including me with my professionnal hat) want to use 3.5
versions of samba on production servers running Debian. Of course,
most of the time, these production servers are running Debian lenny
(the stable version of the distribution).
Debian lenny ships with samba 3.2.5, so

syslog only broken on 3.2.0 (debian lenny)?
I can't really imagine syslog only is broken, otherwise other people
would have complained about this already. I am using syslog-ng, and
other daemon facility messages get routed to /var/log/daemon.log - but
I get absolutely no samba messages - to any log except the default
samba logs.

syslog only = yes
syslog = 3

Another kernel vuln. 2.4 up to and including 2.4.29-pre3, 2.6 up to and including 2.6.10
Just a heads-up even though it''s probably not remotely sploitable::
Unprivileged local users can gain elevated (root) privileges.

Syslinux 3.82-pre3 out; short bug fix cycle
I'm putting Syslinux 3.82 on a short bug fix cycle. As a result, it
will be based on the former for-3.81 branch (now renamed syslinux-3.8x)
instead of the master branch.
Fixed so far:
Changes in 3.82:
* isohybrid: fix the -partok logic for loading from a partition.
* ISOLINUX: deal with systems which return from INT 13h with
interrupts disabled.
* Do not

SYSLINUX 2.06-pre3
I have released a SYSLINUX 2.06-pre3. This includes modifications to
ppmtolss16 so that it should now be completely compliant with all modes
of the PNM specification, raw/plain, PBM/PGM/PPM, with comment lines or
without.
ftp://ftp.zytor.com/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/
Please test it out ASAP if at all possible. Since the fixes for -pre1
and -pre2 were pretty essential, I'd like

Reasons for nut-2.2.2-pre3 package
Arnaud,
We've stumbled on a regression in nut-2.2.1 (also in nut-2.2.2-pre2) with
regards to Tripplite USB devices. It turns out these devices will always
indicate they have data available on the interrupt pipeline, no matter
what. So we must limit the number of input reports we process to a single
one in upsdrv_updateinfo() and leave any remaining ones to the next call
in order to prevent

SYSLINUX 1.75-pre3 released
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/
Here is the list of changes in 1.75 so far:
Changes in 1.75:
* ALL: NASM 0.98.32 or later is now required to build
SYSLINUX from sources.
* SYSLINUX: put back in the workaround for the BIOS floppy
table. This seems to be a requirement for "extended" floppy
formats to work

SYSLINUX 2.03-pre3 is release candidate
Hi all,
Since it seems 2.03-pre3 solves some significant problems for people,
I'm going to release it as 2.03 some time later in the week. I would
*greatly* appreciate people testing it before then.
Thanks,

SYSLINUX 2.11-pre3 released - release candidate
Hi all,
I have released syslinux-2.11-pre3; this is a release candidate build
and if I don't hear anything negative by tomorrow it will be turned into

SYSLINUX 2.08-pre3 released
This version has the missing syslinux.exe file, plus a few minor fixes
to libcom32 (in particular, ARP should no longer time out while sitting
in the menu.)
I still want to fix sparse files (easy) and symlinks (a bit harder) in
extlinux before releasing 3.08 proper, so this isn't a release candidate
yet.

SYSLINUX 3.10-pre3
I released a new prerelease for SYSLINUX which supports PCI BIOS access
for ethersel.c32. If you've had trouble with ethersel.c32, I would
appreciate it if you'd test it out.

3.52-pre3 vmware 'dopathc'
Hello,
I'm check Your version of patch in syslinux-3.52-pre3.
Memory (for multidisk) and 'empty line' work correctly, but
VMware check (if enabled :) - not.
Nasm use 'reverse' byte order in 'xxx'-constant :).
With attached patch all work correctly (checked in VMware v6).
Best regards,

SYSLINUX 3.63-pre3 release candidate; SDI image booting
Hello,
I just received a serious bug report from Stas Kysel of rPath (with a
great test case); it appears that deleted files can confuse extlinux so
that it misses files.
This is bad.
As a result, I have pushed out 3.63-pre3, and intend to make a 3.63
final shortly. I would appreciate any help testing this.
Furthermore, I would like to finish the SDI booting module, but I have
yet to

SYSLINUX 3.73-pre3
I just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.73-pre3. The only significant difference
over -pre2 was changing MEMDISK to use "safeint" by default.

SYSLINUX 3.83-pre3
I *think* I have found and fixed the Thinkpad MEMDISK problem. The
problem with MS-DOS I understand... not so when it comes to an
apparently unrelated FreeDOS problem, and as such I really don't know
*why* the hack I did works, nor if it will *stay* fixed, but at least it
seems to boot on my T61 (at least until it crashes due to another error...)

Which installer? I would hazard a guess that the installer
