Samba 3.0.x and Netapp filers
Hi ! Siemens is migrating away from Windows fileservers to Netapp Filers. First I thought great thats cool get rid of some more MS boxes... But now I face troubles connecting to the shares on the filers. Our support states a cite from netapp as: "samba is not compliant with the specs" Could anyone suply me with ammunition to counter that or knows why the netapp does not allow to

multi-homed samba PDC and NetApp filers
We are having a problem getting a NetApp filer to re-join a samba domain after a move to a new network. The filer worked fine with samba before the move. Apologies in advance for the long missive. I've tried the following: - re-running the CIFS setup program on the filer - removing the problem filer's samba account, replacing it, and re-running the setup program on the filer

Compatibility with NetApp DataONTAP filers?
Good ${time of the day} I have just been wondering if anyone would know if Samba is compatible with the CIFS implementation of the Network Appliance DataONTAP filers? http://www.netapp.com/products/filer/ontap.html I have so far unable to connect to any shared folder on the NetApp filer that require authentication. An attempt to access or list shared resources on the NetApp filer fails with the

Samba and NFS locking on Netapp filers ?
Hello I have troubles with some shares that are NFS mounted to a Netapp filer, if I enable locking on that share, the file cannot be opened by the windows client in write mode ( read only after a looong time ) Anyone has the same problem , it seems to be a Netapp bug but they do not support samba at all :-) so I don't expect any answer from them. thanks

Problems with netapp filers and Samba3.6
In some tests of moving from samba3.5 to samba3.6 I find that the netapp filer don't recognize the groups of the users. Anybody knows where is the problem? Samba compatibility with NetAPP filers.
We are running scripts using smbclient to get some data of NetAPP filer and we run into the output below. After doing some digging, I found that there is a incompatibility between NetAPP Data ONTAP OS and samba. Is this still the case or there is a fix for it. We are running 3.0.10 Any ideas would be great George Client started (version 3.0.10). Connecting to 169.177.18.109 at port 445

Enabling 'idmap backend = ad' for user auth
I'm using Samba 3.0.21a on Fedora Core 3 to authenticate against an AD domain. The box running AD is Win2k3 R2, so AD has the RFC2207 schema extensions applied. I've successfully configured Fedora to do auth through winbind with the normal backend (using uid/gid mappings). Now I'd like to reconfig to use AD as the backend. I was able to do this against a pre-R2 Win2k3 server with

moving from nt4 to active directory
I have 2 AIX systems that run Samba. We are currently on an NT4 domain and moving to Active directory. I am trying to find out what all would be needed to make that transition. The only authenification is for users connecting to their shares. I read one site via Google that states I need to create a user (Rocky) on both Samba and the AD server with different passwords but this does not seem

objectclass "posixAccount" missing on new created users
I don't played much recntly with NetApp filers but as they are supposed to work well with MS AD I expected you don't really needs posixAccount objectClass. So a google search leads me there: https://kb.netapp.com/support/s/article/ka31A0000008hesQAA/how-to-configure-ldap-on-a-filer-to-connect-to-microsoft-s-active-directory-ldap-implementation?language=en_US Perhaps it's not what you

Dovecot Oy merger with Open-Xchange AG
I think everyone shares your concerns. But there are no rules that the outcome of this merger must get something bad, so let's see what happens. I hope that it's true what Timo said and that dovecot can evolve and get even better as it is today. Good luck guys! Regards, Adrian. winbindd logging problem, filling up log filesystem
Greetings all... I'm new to the list -- hope to be a contributor, as I've been using and teaching Samba for decades now (I used to be the author of the "advanced" UNIX course for Learning Tree International -- until they "retired" it). I've scoured the archives and haven't been able to find any example that matches my problem, so I'm here first to solve a

Dovecot Oy merger with Open-Xchange AG
I find it extremely interesting that no one has commented on the merger of Dovecot Oy and Open-Xchange AG as announced by Timo on the 19th. Is this something that was known a long time ago and I missed? OK checked the on-line archive of the mailing list, no comments there - its not my email set-up - LOL. I am usually emotionally (at least) against of open-source projects loosing their

Rails on Win2k/IIS 5.0
I''ve got Rails running pretty well, but with a catch that is kind of specific to our environment, maybe someone can help. Basically we have a Win2k/IIS5.0 server (this is the c: drive) that only has the site configuration and the perl, php, .net and ruby stuff on it. All the data files are supposed to be on our netApps filer (call this filer1). This is our written IT Security Policy and

How to Standardise the x/y coordinates to the unit square?
Dear Rusers, I want to standardise the values of x/y coordinates to the unit square, i.e. make the x-values all lie within [0,1] and all the y-values lie within [0,1] in the bottom example. I had thought to use scale() function to do it, but it seems that it's used to standardise a variable and the scaled value was not within [0,1]. OR, i can divide x/y-values by their maximum value to get
