tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Dear list,
I have no in depth knowledge about samba but use the online tutorial to
configure the samba server.
this time I have installed samba ( Version 3.2.4-4.3-2042-SUSE-SL11.0 )
on suse 11.
I have now disallowed the guest users and created some samba users with
"smbpasswd -a <username> " command.
but if I try to connect with the samba share from another linux box I

connecting to shares in other subnet : slow
Greets, samba-users,
I contact this list because of a problem I face at a customer's site.
We run Samba version 3.0.28-0.6-1787-SUSE-CODE10 there on a SLES 10 SP2
server. This server is located behind a firewall (run by me), that
firewall allows all relevant Samba-ports through (137-139, 445).
The clients are located in a separated subnet, the routing between
client- and server-subnet is

To make winbindd upset and unresponsive (3.2.6)
This simple and often-suggested command to test Samba:
getent passwd
reproducibly upsets winbindd on my SLES 10 SP1 machine. The command
does often return many results from our campus ADS. But after it
completes -- or if the command pauses for quite some time after
showing local users -- Samba is troubled. In five tests this
afternoon, after getent passwd,
wbinfo --ping
fails every time

"smbclient -k" fails, used to work - kinit still ok
Hi All,
I've run into a strange problem, which so far I haven't seen reported by anyone else recently.
A while back I set up a Linux box (SUSE 9.2) to authenticate (using kerberos) against a w2k3
AD domain. A nice side effect of this was that I could use "smbclient -k" and save typing in
my password again.
I didn't have cause to use smbclient for some time, until the other

Latest update gives me problems.
Hiya..
I got a new Samba for my SUSE 10.1 x86_64 by automatic update last
night, and now all of a sudden my Vista workstation won't connect to the
shares automatically.
I have the machine as a domain controller with LDAP backend, and it's
been working flawless until the new update to samba-3.0.22-13.32.
My log.smbd shows this as the workstation logs in, and asks for

Upgrade from Hell
For those of you running SuSE 9.1, I do not recommend upgrading to 9.2
at this time.
Refer to http://shorewall.net/myfiles.htm for information on my
configuration:
a) On Ursa:
1) After the upgrade, both of the NICs were recognized as "configured"
in YAST yet neither of them would start; ifup claimed that no
configuration could be found for either interface. Only got them running

This is the last thing I'll try after I've exhausted all the other options.
How are you mounting your share (which mount options)?

Can''t get into production mode!
Hi all,
I''m deploying my first rails app. I''m using lighty and fcgi, and cannot
get the app to go into production mode. I deploy via Capistrano.
When I dump ENV, RAILS_ENV is still ''development''. Is something
overriding the lighty config?
Here is the lighty config:
var.appname = "mcalogin"
server.port = 1411

Recently some folks in our engineering group started encountering a

Anyone know what could be causing this type of problem? The users having
the problem are all in the eng group is /etc/groups. smb.conf for that

[LLVMdev] way to determine which version of llvm for llvm-gcc? Xcode specifically
Hi Robb,
When you run llvm-gcc with -v, you should see as part of the output something like:
gcc version 4.2.1 (Based on Apple Inc. build 5658) (LLVM build 2366.3)
That last bit on the end is an llvm tag version and should do the trick for what you're looking for. They generally refer to the tags at http://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/tags/Apple.

chmod/chown on receiver
Hi there,
I'm pushing a directory tree from a samba server with notificytion via
fileschanged (FAM) to a webserver for procession images into an
image-database. These files have to be rw by wwwrun on the receiver.
If the receiver woul pull the files, the script could chmod after transfer,
but how can the sender do a chown/chmod on the receivers side? Maybe -o -g
-p can be enhanced or

krb5 configuration generation
Hi,
Is there any way to stop Samba regenerating the krb5.conf.[WORKGROUP] file under /var/lib/samba/smb_krb5 every time?
It appears to completely ignore /etc/krb5.conf, is this expected?
