Samba with LDAP Intergration
All,
I am trying to work out if the current setup is possible:
I would like to have Samba running to authenticate shares for /home
directories running under FC6. All of my users are posixAccount's in an
LDAP Directory.
I would like to use this information to authenticate these shares but
without making any changes to the LDAP Directory itself (so including no

Samba+LDAP: Minimal permissions for sambaLMPassword/sambaNTPassword attributes?
Hi,
what are the minimum permissions for the attributes
sambaLMPassword/sambaNTPassword for the the LDAP administrator account
so that Samba is just enabled to use it for authentication with
ldapsam backend.
It seems like auth is not enough, is this true?!
Thanks,
Arokux

Selenium/Watir usage along side Webrat in story testing
This is related to Selenium/Watir usage along side webrat in story
testing.
MHS_Testing and Rspec-ui provide some great help for testing through
frameworks like Selenium/Watir.
But there is something missing, Webrat has changed the landscape
somewhat with Acceptance Tests/Story Driven development.
Now I have a choice:
1. Tests and rails process run as one test process (Webrat)
2. Use

Windows 7 v. Samba: why is default network profile in 'NETLOGON/Default User.v2' not used?
Setup:
- Samba 3.5.6 (Debian Stable release, amd64);
- Testing Windows 7 client behaviour, specifically with regard to users
who don't yet have profiles.
The Windows docs state that a domain logon for a new user will cause the
default network profile to be used if available, if not then a default
local profile is used instead. The location for the default network
profile is

speed of samba vs Windows
Is there any reason to believe that a samba server would be slower when
serving up roaming profiles than a real Windows server? I know roaming
profiles are slow by nature and that there are things you can do to help
like configuring ffolder redirection. But all else being equal, how would a
samba server compare to a Windows server when it comes to speed specifically
with respect to roaming

setting up the SQLite database
I know this isn''t Python, but I''d like to get a view on the ''one
obvious'' way to set up an SQLite (or other) database and its location
per-app. I''ve got a bit lost with the Camping 2 changes and various
code snippets I have kicking around.

ChillDB License
A few of you sounded interested in using it. I haven''t explicitly put a software license on it, so I guess it''s not technically FOSS yet. What licenses are good? BSD? Public Domain?

Samba limitation/configuration questions
I hope you can help us. We've created a few Samba shares (v2.x) on an HP-UX
11 server and are mounting the shares from a Windows 2003 server. Generally
it's OK, but we're having a issues and would like to know if they are known
problems, limitations, or errors on our part with the configuration.

Camping on Wikipedia
Hi all
I found the Camping page on Wikipedia in need of some serious TLC, so
I updated it, added some newer links and removed the ''stub'' status:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camping_%28microframework%29
I also pointed people to the Github repo for version 1.9.
Please take a look and either make suggestions for further material

WYSIWYG IDE, etc...
I''m new to Ruby, so don''t be too hard on me.
Is there a great visual editor for Ruby?
Also can Ruby on Rails (RoR) work with any other databases other than
the ones listed in the documentation, I need to connect to SQLBase?
Can Ruby be used to create standalone Applications (like Java)?
If yes, does it create native looking apps?
Can it be use in Client-Side and/or Server

klibc issues on armhf (not Debian/armel)
Hi,
we?re currently seeing trouble with klibc on several architectures,
cf. http://www.zytor.com/pipermail/klibc/2012-May/003277.html and
armhf is being one of them, when using klibc to compile mksh-static
with it.
I can look into it (asked zumbi for build-deps in a sid chroot on
harris already), but not 100% sure I?ll find it, so more eyes on
klibc would not be unwelcome ;-)

Strange locking behaviour upsets Apache
We have a server which runs Samba and Apache. Web developers edit their
files (via Windows mapped drives) from Windows XP SP2. These files are
typically CGI files and the developers' routine is:
while (web page not quite right) {
1. Edit file
2. Save
3. Click Reload on web browser
4. Check results
}
They go around that loop many times during a typical development run.

The 'Unknown keyword in config file' problem
Hello,
the topic was already discussed in (for example)
http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2006-March/006586.html
but I'd like to f'up as there does not seem to be a fix yet.
I'm maintainer of a Live-CD and several users reported the problem:

Tips/hints for Windows network management
Hello,
I'm looking for some extremely general tips/hints/ideas here, because I
am sure that I may be missing out on some good ways of managing the
Windows PCs on my network.
This is what I have and what is available to me:
- Samba 3.0.x (current Debian/Sarge version)
- LDAP backend for Samba
- Windows XP SP2 clients
- Domain users are typically unprivileged users
