Hai,
I would like to set up a DFS with this configuration:
I have 3 Samba4 servers (4.1.4).
2 of them should work as a DFS "client" the third one will be the DFS
stotage (actualy this servers has the required amount of space).
So, i configured all shares on DC3 and point to those shares on DC1 and DC2.

samba4 & (domain) dfs
Hi all
I'm trying to set up dfs for (among other things) profiles (i don't know if
this is a good example, but that is out of the scope of my current question)
I've been following these instructions:
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/msdfs.html
http://us.generation-nt.com/answer/samba-domain-dfs-samba-4-help-209347402.html
as well as the hints given in the

smbclient: Renaming file on DFS root fails with NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND
If a file is stored directly on a DFS enabled share, renaming fails with
NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND.
The usecase may sound unusual, but a customer is using NetApp ONTAP 9,
which by default advertises DFS capabilities for all shares, and he
cannot disable it for policy reasons.
I can also reproduce the issue with smbd and Windows Server 2012 R2
(haven't checked with other versions).

Can't follow DFS link
Hi,
I am using 3.0.22 on Ubuntu 6.06. I'm trying to setup a DFS root. Here
is the smb.conf share section:
[test]
path=/var/test
writable=yes
msdfs root=yes
The /var/test contains a single symlink:
$ ls -l /var/test
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2007-05-22 14:56 pdf -> msdfs:cladms004\pdf
On a Win2K client I can connect to \\cladms004\pdf successfully. I
can also access the test

How odds ratio is computed in fisher.test()?
I'm wondering how odds ratio is computed. I thought that it is
(n11/n12)/(n21/n22), but it is not what fisher.test() computes. Could
somebody let me know?

vfs_ChDir fails, even though the share is read-write for that user
Hi,
I'm running Samba Version 3.0.25c on Solaris 10 8/07 on X86 hardware.
It's successfully joined to AD.
But, and there always is a but, if :
* A user is a member of SomeGroup
* and the share alllows SomeGroup to access it
* and SomeGroup is NOT what the user has set as their Primary Group in
Active Directory
then
* Samba will recognize that the user can access the share
* but,

HWEBayes, swapping the homozygotes genotype frequencies
I evaluated the Bayes factor in the k=2 allele case with a "triangular"
prior under the null as in the example in the help file:
HWETriangBF2(nvec=c(88,10,2))
[1] 0.4580336
When I swap the n11 entry and n22 entry of nvec, I received totally
different Bayes factor:

Is there any multivariate regression function to combine all variables from a dataset?
Hi everybody,
I've been looking for a function that combines all variables from a
dataset because I need to do multivariate regression.
If we have linear regression with an expression like f(x) = a0 +
sum(ai*xi) what I want to do is something like f(x) = a0 + sum(ai*xi) +
sum(sum(bij * xi * xj)) + sum(sum(sum(cijk*xi*xj*xk))) + ...
So I need a function that combines all the values from

"Could not convert SID" error - different results for the same AD query
I have a situation where users sometimes can't access shares on samba
servers, and sometimes (a minute later) can.
This is Samba 3.6.3 on Ubuntu 12.04, using Winbind against a Windows 2008 AD
server.
Comparing the success and failure debug logs I managed to capture, I see
this difference:
This line is present in the log of the failed attempt, but not the
successful attempt:

Vista SP1-rc1 appears to break against Samba-3.0.27a
We've got nicely ADS integrated Samba-3.0.27a servers that are working
fine with Win2000 through to standard Vista.
However, we are starting to test RC1 of Vista SP1 and discovered that
once applied, that workstation cannot connect to Samba server shares -
unless the share is open - i.e. no "valid user" style settings. The
moment one is defined, Vista fails to connect and pops up an

Weird permissions problem
I could still really use some help here....
After spending hours on this, I have determined that it's only my user
account that is having this problem. Everyone else can access 700
files/directories owned by them just fine.
Thinking of perhaps a UID conflict somewhere, even though there didn't
appear to be one, I deleted my account and recreated it with a new UID,
copied everything

werr_access_denied when running setdriver for a printer
Hi all,
I'm getting WERR_ACCESS_DENIED error for some of the printers when running
setdriver printer_name printer_driver as part of the cupsaddsmb step.
Weirdly, it works for some printers, and never works for others, while all
the printers have the same settings. Samba 3.5.20 with CUPS 1.5.4.
Does this part of log give any clue of why could this happen?

Samba 3.x problem setting up DFS and XP2
Hi,
i tried to running Samba 3.0.9 with MSDFS under Linux 2.6.9.
The normal sharing of Directories to the Target-Server (also Samba with
same version and Linux) run's without problems.
Only the dfs-share to the same Samba-Server is not usable. The
Share-Name self is visible but without cointain.
I have compiled the new source with the "--with-msdfs" switch and have
also check the
