Wine and opengl error!!!
Hi all,
I'm having trouble running windows games from Fedora 9, 64 bit, using wine
rc3. I've tried Command & Conquer 3, Age Of Mythology and Jazz Jackrabbit 2.
All games fail. I mostly get an error saying that direct3d9 won't work
without opengl. However, I have opengl.
I've run glxgears and it runs fine. Following is the output:

Bivariate normal regression in R
Hello everyone,
I need to fit a bivariate normal regression model to a dataset where the
same covariate (say, X) influences two separate but correlated responses
(say, Y1 and Y2). So, the bivariate
model would look like :
Y1 = a1 + b1*X + e1
Y2 = a2 + b2*X + e2
where e1 and e2 are error terms which can be correlated. Is there any
package in R which can help me fit this model ? Any help will be

Testing whether a number belong to a set
Hello everyone,
I am stuck with an apparently simple issue :
i) I have two sets S1 and S2, each containing a large number of integers,
say zip codes.
ii) Now, I just want to test whether a particular zip code belong to S1 or
S2 or neither of them.
iii) If it belongs to S1, the area/region gets a particular label, say 1; if
it belongs to S2, it gets a label 2 and if it doesnot belong to either S1

part or semi-partial correlation in R
Hello,
I wanted to ask if anybody knows how to calculate part correlation
coefficient in R. I have to calculate partial correlation as well as
part-correlation. I found different libraries for partial correlation
but could not find anything related to part correlation.
Thanks for the help in advance

Re: new_callback_call and conf disconnect
We are using G711 for phones to talk to Asterisk and G729 licenses at
asterisk to talk to ITSP
Could you please suggest transcoder to use from G711 and G729 and which is
comptible with Asterisk. We will like to avoid using TDM if possible
Also i remember that initially we didn't have G729 and were using only 711
for with vicidial but then also we had same problems. at that time it was

Please Help - WINS server problems
Hello,
We are successfully using Samba with a remote WINS server which is located
on another site. We have a second site (Worcester) which has successfully
been using the same WINS server and communicating with our Samba servers
(Shipley5 and Shipley6).
Recently the PCs in Worcester have been unable to connect to our Samba
server in Shipley. The other site uses a different DHCP server to our

[Follow-Up] Domain login - XP 64 -> Samba
hi list,
just read this http://www.gatago.com/linux/samba/14522736.html and this
seems to be my solution 'cause i'm also hitting the same problem.
unfortunately i can't use original debian packages anymore, because they
seem to not integrate the patch, yet (still sub-releases of 3.0.14). or
does anyone made other experiences? seems like not many people are using

Problem with a if statement inside a function
I have a really long functions, and at the end of the function, I am using a
if statement
to tag certain keywords based on whether they have certain values contained
in them.
However, the if statement doesn't seem to work.
When I had split up the commands into various functions, it worked fine, but
I'm not sure
what going on now that it's combined into a single function.

samba, winbind, 2k PDC and dynamic home shares?
Hi again all,
First of all, apaologies if this message is replicated on a news server, my new server died on me, so I've moved to supernews and will be posting to the mailman list instead for this.
Anyway, I have a quick question about winbindd and PDC user home shares...
I have gone through all the usual steps for setting up a Samba (2.2.7 /
RedHat 8.0) fileserver, and have a simple,

I'm running two servers, one with a fixed IP address

but what does dyndns do that I could not do myself?

Sparse KMeans/KDE/Nearest Neighbors?
hi,
I have a dataset (the netflix dataset) which is basically ~18k columns and
well variable number of rows but let's assume 25 thousand for now. The
dataset is very sparse. I was wondering how to do kmeans/nearest neighbors
or kernel density estimation on it.
I tired using the spMatrix function in "Matrix" package. I think I'm able to
create the matrix but as soon as I pass

Order of emails
Hi
We have an issue regarding the order in which emails are displayed in an
imap folder, which our customers regularly complain about. By default,
emails are returned from a folder in the order in which they were placed
into the folder, which makes perfect sense. However, if an email is moved
into another folder, it will always appear at the top, no matter how old it
is.
We could order the
