Unwanted case sensitivity
I have also posted this on IRC. I have a linux host running stock RHEL 5.4 Samba 3.0.33-3.15. The host acts both as a Samba server and does a CIFS mount of that same share. The reason for doing this is so that programs running on the Linux host have the same case insensitive view as the Windows clients. I have nocase set in the relevant line in /etc/fstab I have case sensitive = No set in the

Help - Samba 2.2.3a + Solaris 8 7/01 - 64 bit binaries
Hi, I have compiled Samba 2.2.3a on Solaris 8 7/01 to produce 64 bit binaries and to use the 64 bit i/o functions. The compiled code has been installed on two identical Sun Servers, the key differences between the configurations is that one has the maximum number of file descriptors set to 65000 (Solaris configured for 65356) and has op locks disabled because it is being used with Clear Case.

Upgrade 3.0.24-3.fc5 to 3.0.24-4.fc5 Anomaly
As part of our deployment of FC updates we have upgraded our office server from 3.0.24-3 to 3.0.24.4. We got some strange results. Shares that have the same name as the users home directory and/or the same name as their users id became inaccessible. For example, my user id is kens, my home directory is in /home/kens and there was a share of it called kens. There is also a common share

INVALID PIPE HANDLE
I'm trying to use Samba 3.0.5 on a slackware 10 system and am having problems getting my XP Pro machines to join the domain. Whenever I try to add a machine to the domain the error "the remote procedure call failed" is shown. When I look at the samba log file I see the entry "api_fd_reply: INVALID PIPE HANDLE: 746f" cooresponding to the time I tried to add the machine.

repeatedly crashing smbd when printing: broken pipe
for months, we keep fighting issues with smbd (now at released 2.2.6), config is with spoolss, domain logon, and the client in question is an NT4 machine. server is a i386/linux 2.2.19 For a very long time, we thought it was related to oplocks, but now after having them disabled, it still is there. Level 3 Log is as follows: [2002/10/22 17:08:18, 3] smbd/ipc.c:reply_trans(480) trans

Unable to print to SAMBA+CUPS server from Win2k12 server
I'm stumped! From within CUPS, I'm able to successfully print test pages. From the Windows machine, I'm able to: * Browse the Samba server's printers via SMB * Add the Samba server's printers * Write to the Samba server's print$ share If I pause the printers via CUPS's interface, then Samba successfully relays this information when I try printing a test page from the

Win NT 4.0 clients give error C0000078 when login to Samba PDC
Hi all, I've tried searching all over the net for any information about this error but can't seem to find any. I've compiled Samba 2.2.8a on a RH Linux 7.3 box (kernel 2.4.18-3) with lsapsam support against openldap 2.0.23-4. I'm also using pam_ldap such that all authentication (unix + samba/windows) is done through LDAP, which is working quite nicely. However, none of my NT

printing problems and permissions
I've got Samba 2.2.3 running as a PDC for some Win9x and WinNT clients. Everything seems to be fine except that occasionally (but rather often, at least every second day) printing from one of the NT-clients is impossible. In the log file it says (word wrap here in the editor): [2002/02/26 18:04:21, 0] printing/printing.c:print_job_start(952) print_job_start: insufficient permissions to open
