SYSLinux/ISOLinux question
Look into the original XP cd and see where NTLDR is located, then place it on your cd in the same directory and it 'should' work. I have created some 2000 XP boot cd's with integrated recent service pack's and they still boot. But I do that with cdrecord+original boot sector, not with any isolinux stuff... But I hope this help! -----Original Message----- From: G. Murali

Browsing problem with XP Media Center Edition
Hi all! I've got a samba-3.0.14a-2 running on a single subnet. It has been my WINS server for a long time and has done well, until now. The dhcp server on the subnet is telling all clients to use the file server as WINS but when one of the employees here plugs in his XP Media Center Edition, browsing is failing. It's failing by only showing the file server, the XP MCE and eventually the

[PATCH 2/5] Xen/MCE: vMCE injection
Xen/MCE: vMCE injection In our test for win8 guest mce, we find a bug that no matter what SRAO/SRAR error xen inject to win8 guest, it always reboot. The root cause is, current Xen vMCE logic inject vMCE# only to vcpu0, this is not correct for Intel MCE (Under Intel arch, h/w generate MCE# to all CPUs). This patch fix vMCE injection bug, injecting vMCE# to all vcpus. Signed-off-by: Liu,

[PATCH] Xen/MCE: stick all 1's to MCi_CTL of vMCE
Jan, This patch just used to stick all 1''s to MCi_CTL, it should not involve much argue, so I sent it separately. Thanks, Jinsong ==================== Xen/MCE: stick all 1''s to MCi_CTL of vMCE This patch is a middle-work patch, prepare for future new vMCE model. Audit of NMI and MCE paths
I have just starting auditing the NMI path and found that the oprofile code calls into a fair amount of common code. So far, down the first leg of the call graph, I have found several ASSERT()s, a BUG() and many {rd,wr}msr()s. Given that these are common code, and sensible in their places, removing them for the sake of being on the NMI path seems silly. As an alternative, I suggest that we make

Recursive locking in Xen (in reference to NMI/MCE path audit)
Hello, While auditing the NMI/MCE paths, I have encountered some issues with recursive locking in Xen, discovered by the misuse of the console_lock intermittently as a regular lock and as a recursive lock. The comment in spinlock.h is unclear as to whether mixing recursive and non recursive calls on the same spinlock is valid. If the calls are genuinely not valid, then surely regular spinlocks

Vorbis in Windows Media Player 9, (partial) success
As I said on http://wiki.xiph.org/ClientSupport I managed to get WMP9 under Windows 2003 to work with OGG vorbis files. Requisite : OggDS 0.9.9.5 - they can be opened with the Open... dialog and WMP does not complain any more that it is an unsupported file format - they can be dragged from explorer into WMP and WMP will play them without any complaint - they can be added to the media library.

[PATCH] chain.c32: add support for booting the Recovery Console of Windows NT/2K/XP
The following patch for chain.c32 adds support to boot the Recovery Console of Windows NT/2K/XP. Normally when you want to boot the recovery console, you need to patch "cmdcons\0" into the bootsectorof the partition (8 bytes starting at 0x3 (4th byte)). We can do this patching in memory: strcpy((char *) 0x7c03, "cmdcons"); To boot the recovery console with chain.c32:

Tricky vectorization problem
Hi all, I'm using the code below within a loop that I run thousands of times and even with the super-computing resources at my disposal this is just too slow. The snippet below takes about 10s on my machines, which is an order of magnitude or two slower than would be preferable; in the end I'd like to set the number of monte carlo experiments to 1e4 or even 1e5 to ensure stable
