'samba-tool dbcheck' reports only a "Bus error"
For a few days now my primary DC has some issues. I can create users without a problem. But when I try to alter the group membership of users, one of my samba processes crashes (the one listening to the LDAP related ports: 389, 636, 3268, 3269). Also, when I start my backup DC, a few seconds later another process crashes on the primary DC (the RPC related listening to 135 and 1024). I

client use spnego
In the course of debugging my still-unsolved "smbclient tar starts throwing SMB signature errors after 750MB of data or so" error, I came across this apparent inconsistency... >From the smb.conf man page: "client use spnego (G) This variable controls controls whether samba clients will try to use Simple and Protected NEGOciation (as specified by rfc2478) with WindowsXP and

how to disable SPNEGO
How will I disable SPNEGO in my linux pc (Fedora w/ Samba 3.0.26a version installed acting as a client)? I also don't know what settings should I change in the Linux server (Fedora). When I joined the linux server and client in windows server workgroup w/o spnego the result is there is no extended security at all. (I did this by changing smb.conf workgroup) I only want NTLMSSP(Extended

GSS-SPNEGO with dovecot and Outlook without Samba
I am trying to configure a dovecot2 IMAP server to inter-operate with a active directory to authenticate users. The users should be able to login without a password on a domain-joined client(Outlook). Is it possible to do this only with kerberos? I don't want to put a crappy winbind on my mailserver... I already configured my server to authenticate via kerberos(GSSAPI), but Outlook does not

Current CVS and spnego.h?
I've needed to grab a copy of CVS to fix the bug as described in (http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/samba/2003-August/101401.html), but I'm missing a header file. Anyone know where I can get spnego.h? windows 2003 sp1 clients, security = server and use spnego
Hi folks, I have a Samba 3.0.25a server here on Debian that Windows 2003 SP1 clients happily talk to with "security = user", but when I tried switching to a "security = server" setup, it would not work until I added "use spnego = no" to smb.conf. Tests with smbclient and Windows XP worked regardless. I can also reproduce the problem on Solaris 10 with Samba 3.0.24

Join fails with 'SPNEGO login failed: invalid parameter' - SOLVED
Replying my own mail. I resolved this issue, which was the result of missing iconv library files. Apparently, the default install of the SUNWuiu8 package (Iconv modules for UTF-8 Locale) misses some files. Patch 113896-07, which is not part of the recommended and security patch clusters, adds them to the system. Note that the log file also complains about 'No protocol supported !' in

Suppressing the GSS-API SPNEGO negTokenInit message on Negotiate Protocol Response
Dear SAMBA experts, I'm looking to emulate the behavior of some older Windows servers, mainly old Win2k/XP machines. On newer clients (possibly XP-SP2 and above), the SMB server will send a GSS-API message at the end of the Negotiate Protocol Response packet detailing the supported Security Service Providers by OIDs in a negTokenInit structure. However, older servers did not send this message

Error "Failed to setup SPNEGO negTokenInit request" after Samba update to 2:4.3.8+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.2
Hi, I am running an Ubuntu 14.04 server with Samba configured to use Quest Authentication Services for user authentication with an Active Directory infrastructure. After an Samba upgrade from version 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.13 to 2:4.3.8+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.2, I am facing the problem that none of the configured Samba shares is accessible anymore. The log contains the following entry:
