pxelinux 4.10 pre17 http:// on VMware works now
Hi,
I finally managed to test pxelinux 4.10 pre17 in our VMware environment and
can report that HTTP booting seems to work reliably now. Downloads are
fairly fast.
As a side note, rosh "ls" and "pwd" commands now work as expected with a
HTTP TFTP prefix, cool!
I'll leave it in production use now and report about any further issues.
Can you already tell when a 4.10

gpxelinux.0 and slow HTTP performance on VMware ESX VM
Hi,
first of all I would like to voice my deep gratitude to all syslinux developers
for this really important software. I am using it in all my automation projects
and could not manage without.
Unfortunately now I stumbled upon a problem where I am out of my wits and need
some help.
The core problem is that HTTP transfers by gpxelinux.0 are very slow. Sadly this
problem seems to be somehow

RE: Drag and drop events. Or: How I learned to takeover the world.
You should open up dragdrop.js in the scriptaculous directory and take a
look at the interface for Draggables/Draggable. There is an event for
dragStart, dragging, and dragEnd (not by those exact names but you
should see them)... sorry I can''t offer more help than just pointing you
in the right direction... very busy. Good luck, nice start!

External fax modem takeover of fxo?
Given all the issues with the fax DSP code and reliability, I'm looking
into the option of using an external fax modem instead of trying to
shoehorn asterisk into handling faxes properly...
I'm thinking of hooking up the faxmodem to the line directly, then
hooking the X100P to the modem's Phone port.
Can I enable fax detection and use the fax extension to spawn an external

CTDB IP takeover/failover tunables - do you use them?
I'm currently hacking on CTDB's IP takeover/failover code. For Samba
4.6, I would like to rationalise the IP takeover-related tunable
parameters.
I would like to know if there are any users who set the values of these
tunables to non-default values. The tunables in question are:
DisableIPFailover
Default: 0
When set to non-zero, ctdb will not perform failover or

pxelinux 4.10-pre17 HTTP performance (cptime)
Hi,
thanks for writing cptime, after manually adding it to the Makefile of a
lwip git checkout it compiled fine (same about prdhcp) (only isohybrid
complained about a missing uuid/uuid.h)...
I have a 64bit VM with VMXNET3 and go there this result:

(can everybody see the picture?)
The download of a 180MB large file (Parted Magic initrd) takes between 60
and 72 seconds,

LDAP Q: What for use Containers
Hi,
I am planning a Samba3+LDAP installation and was wondering about the use
of putting users into different containers on the LDAP server (similar to
what people do on NDS/eDirectory).
Is it possible to then assign rights, options, ... to the containers and
have the users inherit these rights ?
I observed that e.g. SuSE Enterprise server and other SuSE products put
all users in the same

Unix to SMB Password Sync using PAM
Hello,
I would like to configure PAM to sync Unix passwords to Samba passwords.
When I add a new Unix user or change an existing Unix user's password,
I want the same password to be stored in /etc/smbpasswd.
I'm trying to follow these instructions:
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/pam.html#id2606200
It sounds like this is what I want to do:

Group auth with ntlm_auth
Hi there,
I am trying to set up a Squid proxy using group authentication via samba
ntlm.
So I thought about using ntlm_auth, which can authenticate groups since
Samba version 3.0.4 as I read.
So anyone knows if it is possible to authenticate against different groups?
Problem is we got 4 domains, each has it's own group called WWW and only
members of that group are allowed to use the proxy.

Remove gpxe or replace with ipxe?
For me the motivation for gpxelinux.0 was the HTTP support. If this would
work reliably in newer versions then I could happily live without a
iPXE-based pxelinux.

Newbie samba3/smbldap-tools questions...
Hi all,
I have set up a test configuration with Samba 3.0.2a and ldapsam/nss on
FreeBSD 5.2.1, one PDC and two BDC's on different subnets. Most is now
humming along quite well and I need to get a grip on the administrative
side of it.

people used to nothing but Windows who needs to add/delete users. I have

Winbind, pam_mkhomedir.so problem with long usernames
Hi, I've been succesfully connecting my SuSE Linux (since version 9.0) to my
organization's NT domain using Samba's Winbind. The thing is multiple users
use my PC, not only myself. Though it was also necessary to setup my pam.d
to automatically create their home folders at first logon (using
pam_mkhomedir.so).
My NT user is something like "jdoe" but there are some users

OCFS on Linux LVM?
Dear all,
This maybe one of the FAQs on OCFS. From Oracle's note : 237997.1 "Linux
OCFS - Best Practice" point 5 "Calculating an OCFS Partition Size" it
mentions:
OCFS supports partitions of up to 1Tb (tested). Since no volume
management is built into OCFS, Oracle recommends enabling hardware raid
support to create logical disk volumes of sufficient size. If hardware

good day...

samba server, and to preserve the posix-acl's..

to make a backup with acl..
nfs4 doesn't have anny good support for acl's (yet)
so i tried to mount a samba share with mount -t smbfs..
no acl's there ??
