I'd upgraded to the 302rc1 version. i configed it to be an pdc controller, with wins to manage our local domain.. only when browsing the domain list. it gives error(s) once in a while.. Hi all, i'm a bit confused, can i setup samba (3.0.30) with LDAP backend, and have the "posix/local linux" users and groups reside in the /etc/groups /etc/shadow ect. ect (the standard linux files) ??? or do i have to put them in ldap also ?? (is there a choice?) Greets, Collen

well the subject tell's it.. it's not able to change password's for users from a miupoms xp/2000 machine... windows is complaining about, domain not availeable.. and samba show's an (incor.password lenght error) i used an password over 5 char's (6 and 8) and the min. passwd lenght is 5 !! anny clue's?? there is an encryped passwords=yes in the conf.. l8r

Hello, does anyone know if there is a tool in existence that can monitor samba shares like smbstatus but is much more advanced (and runs in console) , I mean a tool that has menues, some search options, and things sorted out nice. Hi, i kinda learning to setup the samba4 all thing good so far (with the nice help of the wiki's, howto's and logics) except for the dns update part. some how i can't get the dns update to work i use bind 9.7.2 in fc14. pinging the machine gives an error of not knowing the machine in the dns.. bind9 does not show anny sign of an update, nor logs the the name of the machine ?!

just noticed the following problem.. after running samba 302rc1(as pdc) for a few day's. old SMBD pid's are left in the procces tree.. eating memory and cpu time, causing linux to overload and not function annymore. after stopping samba, the smbd pid's will stay. stopping samba the 2nd time will do the trick, they finaly disapear... so you have to stop samba twice.. ?? don't

Well, i have a serious problem, all of an sudden samba rejects all my workstations and servers! my samba PDC reports back to me, secrets_fetch failed! nothing has changed, or altered.. it comes out of the blue! i did upgrade samba from 3.0.11 to 3.0.21, but that was 2 weeks ago, and the upgrade worked.
