What might be the possible causes of an smbclient NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME error? smbclient generates this error when I attempt to connect to my [homes] share from a Mandrake Linux 10.1 (Samba 3.0.7) box to my Fedora Core 4 box (Samba 3.0.14a-2). Similarly, my Windows 2000 machine complains that folder "\\Fedora\derek is not accessible. The network name cannot be found." I can

Hola: I have configured samba-3.0.14a-2 on FC4 as a member of a Windows SBS2003 network. I used windbind to get the users from the SBS server. Users can login into the samba machine and use home directories I created for them in the samba machine (I cannot get to use/mount the user's home directories from the SBS machine into the samba machine). After many unsuccessfull problem determination, I found that there is two ways to correct this: 1- kill smbd -D process

Hi! How do I create a mountpoint with smbmount, that attaches to \\server\share\dir (on a Windows 2000 server) ?? If I mount to \\server\share I'm not able to see anything - but the mapping to the same server (from a Win2000 client) is okay, and I can see the contents of the directory... How do I create the samba user
I used samba on FC3 with no problems. I recently upgraded to a new computer AMD 64 X2 and I installed 64 bit FC4. Samba seems to be mostly configured correctly, except that it appears as though somehow for the installation I do NOT have a samba user. If I had to guess, I would say that I have version 3.0.14a-2 for x86_64. I logged in from a windows computer and I was able to look at my home

Desiring to set up Windows Vista and Linux Fedora Core 4
Greetings! Tonight is unfortunately the first small bit of time I've had to even try to get Samba configured between my Vista and my Linux FC4. (My mother as well as my extremely limited home time dealing with important things are my main delays.) It's not going well. :-) I have added hosts allow with 192.168.1 and 192.168.2. I have experimented with a few things. I
