RE: xend start problem: on suse 9.3
Hi there
I get the same error, only
/usr/lib/python/xen/lowlevel/xu.so
does -not- exist
I see a dir named
/usr/lib/python/site-packages/xen/lowlevel
with just one file in it:
__init__.pyc
even if I do a
find -name xu.*
from / I get nothing
I run Suse 9.3 and kernel 2.6.8-24.14, which seems to
be the only way to get Dom0 up under Suse 9.3 for the
time being
Hints most welcome!

Dom0 hang on SuSE 9.3 IA64
I''m having problems booting Dom0 on an unbranded server.
Server is running SuSE 9.3 x86_64 and has been working fine for a couple
of years as a standard boot pc. I installed the 2.0.5c version of Xen
which is part of the SuSE repository. I cannot boot into Xen though,
booting Dom0 stops after:
NET: Registered protocol family 16
I know from a normal boot that the next part is PCI

Errors on SuSE 9.3 default install.
Hi,
Total newbie - I spent most of yesterday looking through various docs
and could not come up with anything useful.
I have 2 different SuSE 9.3 boxes - a P3 with 2 * ISDN BRI pci cards and
a P4 with no asterisk relevant HW at all.
I am using the default asterisk install that was loaded when I did a
(full) fresh install of SuSE 9.3.
I get the *same* error on *both* boxes, even though one of

SuSE 9.3 domU /sbin/ifup workaround
Hi all
I have a SuSE 9.3 domU. It has a eth0 interface, corresponding
to some vif interface in the dom0. Running
ifup eth0
doesn''t seem to work. This means I don''t get any network.
It seems that /sbin/ifup relies upon /sbin/getcfg but getcfg
does not seem to find the right configuration for the eth0 device.
A attached a patch below with a work around for this.

MAKEing zaptel and ztdummy on SuSE 9.3 - Repost
Hi,
Sorry to re-post, but I'm still having hassles with ztdummy. I'm using
kernel 2.6.11.4-21.7-smp and Asterisk 1.0.8 on SuSE 9.3
The first 3 makes (see below) for zaptel work out ok - but the
ztdummy.ko (etc) files *are* created even though I haven't yet
uncommented ztdummy in Makefile.
If the ztdummy bits are compiled, why edit Makefile & run make again?
modprobe ztdummy

suse 9.3 / samba
I installed suse 9.3 recently after successfully running 9.1 for some
time and being able to serve up files to windows computers on my home
network. Since the new install, I can no longer edit and save word
files shared by samba on the linux machine from a windows machine, while
other file types are OK (html, jpg, txt).
I can create a new word file, but they can't be subsequently

My case: Suse 9.3 "kernel panic - not syncing: VFS
Hi, Tom
I recently got SUSE-Xen running. During the trial I got similar error:
"kernel panic - not syncing: VFS:
Unable tomount root fs on unknown-block (3, 1)"
This was fixed when I add to xen-config file this line:
# Optional ramdisk.
ramdisk = "/boot/initrd-xen"
It might be commented out if you use the config file example "xmexample1".

Fwd: Re: Problems suse 9.3, ellipse premium 500
Hi,
I have used /etc/init.d/rclevel.d/S12ups script renaming it with S22ups and
adding at the top:
chown root:nobody /proc/bus/usb/002/002
chmod 660 /proc/bus/usb/002/002
It's a patch but works.
Best regards.

SUSE 9.3, modprobe, and zaptel
I'm sure this has probably been discussed, but I cannot get zaptel and
ztdummy to load automatically when my linux box starts.
I have to manually modprobe them to get them into the kernel.
I have tried adding them to the /etc/modprobe.conf.local ("insert zaptel
/sbin/modprobe --ignore-install zaptel" for example) file, as well as
modifying the /etc/modprobe.d/zaptel file, but for

R under suse linux 9.3
Hi, dear list members,
I've been using R under windows XP and I am now changing
my system to SUSE LINUX 9.3.
I could figure out that there is no precompiled version
of R for LINUX. To get me going, I would like your help
regarding what I need to setup R under my SUSE LINUX.
Which compiler do I need to be able to compile the source
and I was wondering if I could get GNU compiler?

Building zaptel.1.0.9 on Suse 9.3
Dear list,
I am back with my problem compiling zaptel 1.0.9 . I am running SUSE
9.3, with kernel linux-2.6.11.4-21.7
I have the kernel sources on disk. YAST tells me they match the compiled
kernel.

Shorewall and SuSE 9.3
The basic functionality of Shorewall 2.2.2 works fine with the
soon-to-be-released SuSE 9.3 (I have an early copy). I''ll be trying it
over the weekend with more complex configurations involving IPSEC and
OpenVPN.

Wine and AMD 64 in Suse 9.3
Hi.
I have to use a comercial Windows software in my work, called Cosilab.
Last two months I was using Debian and wine 0.9.1 and everything went
perfect. The
Program works fine under wine and I haven't got any problems.
Now I've updated my computer to an AMD64 with 2Ghz Processor and I do
not know if the
problem with wine is caused by the 64 bits processor or why...
I try to run the

OT: SUSE 9.3 and NICs
Folks, I realize this is off topic, and if anyone can suggest a
better source for the question, I'd be glad to go there. Novell
SUSE's support is unresponsive, however.
My problem is this: I'm running 9.3 Pro on an Intel server board that
has two NIC chips built in (a 10/100 and a GigE). I've since added a
Netgear GigE NIC. However, every time I reboot, the NICs assigned to
