Please help with samba 3.0.21a on AIX 5.3
I've tried building samba 3.0.20 and 21a without luck. I've tried binaries and they all give this error. I know I am missing something but nothing points to a solution.

SAMBA eats up all memory...
Hello,
I am running SAMBA 2.0.7.0 on AIX 4.3.3.0
I have a 1 Tera Byte filesystem on AIX made available to NT and MAC.
There is heavy IO activity on this filesystem and all of a sudden the NT's
and MAC's can't read or write any file on this shared filesystem.
Also AIX is running out of memory whenever this happens and files cannot be
copied onto the said filesystem even at unix

Win2k & 2.0.7
When I try to join the Win2k machine to a domain, I get the following message:
The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "WIN2K":
The procedure number is out of range.
This is a Win2k PC attempting to join to AIX 4.3.2 running samba 2.0.7. Any
ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

aio settings for samba 4.3
I'm tuning a samba 4.3 install on freebsd and I'm confused about aio
settings.
I've loaded the freebsd aio kernel module and tried various values or
aio read size and aio write size, but it seems to make no difference in
the speed.
Using MS diskspd against a samba share from a fast zfs pool I get
something like 25MB/s tops. That's well below the capacity of my Gb
network and

3.0.20 compiles in aio support on aix by default, and when asked not to
I'm trying to install samba-3.0.20 on aix 5.2, and I don't want to use
aio, but the build process is compiling it in anyway. By default, it
isn't supposed to build in aio support, but it does. When I pass
--with-aio-support=no to configure, it also builds in support. It
builds in aio support whether I use gcc or xlc.

[questions] aio settings in smb.conf and compile options
hi,
i just have some questions about specific (uncommon) compile options and
aio-settings in smb.conf:
Asynchronous IO Support
=======================
"Experimental support for async IO has been added to smbd for
certain platforms. To enable this new feature, Samba must be
compiled to include the --with-aio-support configure option.

get older version 3.0.37
Dear all,
I have a client who uses Samba 3.0.28 on AIX 5.3 and he is running into
problems with the cpu utilization which is 100% caused by one or more
smbd processes.
I found out that this problem should be solved in version 3.0.37 and
want to know if there is a way to get the bff-file of this version.
I am not able to compile samba myself on the machine which has the
problem and I am

cannot start smbd on AIX 5.3
Help please.
I am in the process of configuring Samba 3.0.14a onto 4 AIX 5.3 systems.
It seems to be working OK on 3 of the 4, but on the last one, I cannot
start smbd.
nmbd seems to start fine.
The smb.conf file matches the other servers except that the server name
is changed.
Here's the error showing up on the log.smbd file.

Samba ADS on AIX 6.1 TL04
Hi All
I'm trying to intergrate samba server with ADS on AIX 6.1 TL04, for last one
week, with idmap / winbind but no satisfactory results. I have gone through
various links at samba.org relating to winbind, idmapper and followed
http://pware.hvcc.edu/ for precompiled binaries and
http://pware.hvcc.edu/AIX-Samba.pdf which is for AIX 6.1 TL03 though.
I have found the samba which is provided

What does the value for "aio write size" and "aio read size" represent?
I'm looking into trying out AIO on one of our file servers in the office but
I can't find any info on what the values for "aio read size" and "aio write
size" correspond to. Is it a buffer size of some sort or a tuning type
parameter were it allows the socket to read/write x blocks?
Thanks,

AIX Testers Needed.
Hello AIX folks,
I am changing the packaging of Samba for AIX. Presently Samba is built with
a truckload of static libs and bound up in a package that has no other
support for the supporting infrastructure.
What I'd like to do instead is make as much of the package dependant upon
shared libs and to allow for completeness of the package. In other words,
BDB, OpenSSL, OpenLDAP, SASL, KRB5,

AIO support on FC4
hi,
i'm trying to get the asynchronous file transfer to work on a FC4 for
the latest samba verion (3.0.20b).
The things i've done:
./configure --with-aio-support
...
included "aio read size = 1" and "aio write size = 1" in the smb.conf file
What did i forget??

Shared Memory Problems
I just thought I'd throw this out there because it doesn't seem normal to me.
We have 2.0.5a on AIX 4.3.2.
We initially tried to increase the shared mem size to 4MB. This would not happen
until we rebooted AIX. Then smbstatus reported a 4MB shared mem size. Now we are
trying to decrease it because we will only need about 2MB and it won't reduce. I
suspect it will when we reboot
