wtmp repair - painless
hi, from reiserfs it`s known to happen quite often - wtmp may be corrupted; but actually I`m using only ext2/3 on the test machine. Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly?
Hi Everyone!, I'm not sure if my previous request went through or not...It got returned as not-deliverable??? Who knows! Anyway, I need to get hold of the Cisco Firmware to upgrade a 7910G to sip. I know it can be a real pain in the butt getting hold of the firmware, so any help in obtaining it relatively fast and painlessly would be much appreciated. Cheers M. -------------- next

How-To questions... ldap.conf
Ok, first of probably numerous questions. In my FC5 setup, there are two ldap.conf files. /etc/openldap/ldap.conf /etc/ldap.conf If I understand things properly, the first is used to tell NSS and PAM modules to talk to LDAP. The second is for LDAP clients. (Is that right?) However a further point also is confusing. In the IDEALX how-to, the two files are configured differently, with the

Re: Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly andLEGITIMATELY?
CDW is not a Gold Cisco partner. I would talk with a group called Shore Group http://www.shoregroup.com I know they do a lot of Cisco VoIP work and can sell you a SmartNet contract no problem. samba migration to another llinux distro
Hello I need a description how to move painlessly samba from one system to another without re-adding to the domain windows clients. Currently, I have samba Version 3.0.28a-1.fc7 on Fedora 7 and I want to move it on CentOS 5.5 As far as the server hardware remains the same. In addition to changing the system i would like to change new disks and add a new 3ware 9650SE Raid controller (samba

Password expiration
Hello, I still can't figure out why my users' passwords are expiring. Ever since we switched to LDAP, passwords expire every 14 days. Here is an example LDAP user entry: version: 1 # LDIF Export for: uid=sgoodrich,ou=Users,dc=trec,dc=us # Generated by phpLDAPadmin ( http://phpldapadmin.sourceforge.net/ ) on September 6, 2005 10:56 am # Server: TREC (localhost) # Search Scope: base #

Re: Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly and LEGITIMATELY?
I'm in the UK and have had terrible trouble getting the right contract. After looking on voip-info I set off looking for a vendor only to find that no-one sells the $9 contract. Cisco retracted that one :-( I asked for the equivalent and they said I needed a ?20 contract. I said fine but after 20 minutes or so got a call saying I couldn't have that one as it didn't give me access

Servers disappear from Network neighborhood
I am using Samba-PDC-LDAP with samba-3.0.20b-1. On my file servers I am using samba-3.0.10-1.4. I'm not sure exactly what is happening but every couple of weeks the file servers disappear form network neighborhood. I checked browstat on my Windows system and it points to my PDC as the master browser and I checked the wins.dat file on my PDC and the systems were there. I did not check

Setting for deleting old messages from Trash?
Hi. Just switched to Dovecot from Courier last week and have been very pleased so far. The conversion was extremely painless, and I only hit a few small configuration issues before I was able to get the server up and running. Since then, I've been quite pleased - Dovecot's been very stable, and a good bit faster than courier as well. However, there's one nice feature from

Huge data frames?
A friend of mine recently mentioned that he had painlessly imported a data file with 8 columns and 500,000 rows into matlab. When I tried the same thing in R (both Unix and Windows variants) I had little success. The Windows version hung for a very long time, until I eventually more or less ran out of virtual memory; I tried to set the proper memory allocations for the Unix version, but it never

Moving samba PDC to new machine (same name?)
I'm using a tdbsam database with Samba 3.0.11 on a machine that's getting a little long in the tooth. I'd like to move the whole deal to a new machine without any reconfiguring on the clients - I'm happy with a little downtime - out of office hours the system is hardly used anyway. I'd like to upgrade to 3.0.21c at the same time. I'm thinking: 1. backup domain data on
