winbind users and vnc logins
Is there any way for winbind to authenticate vnc logins? I've got winbind up and running and working fine for local and gdm logins on a Fedora Core 3 installation. But when I try to set up vncserver on it, it doesn't recognize winbind users. There doesn't seem to be a PAM for vnc. So is remote access via vnc out of the question for winbind users?

samba server as dfs host?
I'm trying to configure a samba server in a Win2K3 domain as a dfs host. The dfs host part is working: from a win client I can map the dfs root on the samba server (on FC3 fwiw) and see the link I've created to a share on a Win2k3 active directory domain controller. From samba server, I can smbclient to the share on the Win2k3 DC, and can mount the share as "-t cifs" (but not

Winbind and AD groups containing groups
I tried searching through the archives, but was unable to find anything about this. Everything regarding windbind and AD membership is working perfectly with one exception. Here's an example of what I'm experiencing: A group called "department_users" contains two groups "department_faculty" and "department_staff". These two groups,

Windbind auth
Hi, I was able to get my server in the domain. I can see it from ADUC and Network Places. But I can't get it to use AD to authenticate the users that want to access the server/share. Wbinfo -u and -g return the users and group of my MONTREAL domain. Net ads info also returns the correct information about my domain. I then tried to run getent passwd but that only returned the list of the

Preloading child rows 2 levels deep?
I currently have 3 tables/models: 1) Clients, 2) Charges, and 3) Court_Dates. Clients 1..n Charges 1..n Court_Dates I am trying to find all clients that have a court_date on a certain day: something along the lines of (@client.charge.court_date.date == Date.today). I have had success preloading child rows using the :include parameter, but that only works with a parent and a child, or a

windbind and AD authentication - UPPER CASE usernames?
We're looking at using windbind and AD for our user account details but have run into a small snag. All user accounts in AD are upper case but our linux accounts are lower-case. Is there a simple solution we've overlooked? We really don't want to have to hack this... Users and groups without Winbind
I'm just curious how this works. I've set up an Active Directory Domain controller using Samba 4.0.0. I DO NOT have Winbind configured. When I run "ls -al /samba/share/directory" I notice that I have users named like 3000000 belonging to the group "users". Without windbind configured, how do I have users and groups inside of my Samba domain (for instance the

Winbind dying daily
(samba 3.0.2a via RPM, ADS, SuSE 9) Every day Windbind stops responding, although the process is active. When this happens, getent passwd returns just local users, and wbinfo -u returns "Error looking up domain users" If i 'reload' winbind, nothing changes, but if I 'restart' it, it works again, for another day. Any ideas? log.winbind, after a wbinfo -u, follows:

I was able to use the usbhid-dump utility using -e stream, the last octet will report the state of the detected power (1/2 for ignition on, 3 for ignition off, 0 for powered-off). 4th one seems to be voltage, and the 5th and 6th I believe are timers:
