Shorewall and an inline IDS (snort-inline or hogwash)
Is anyone using an inline IDS like hogwash or snort-inline to drop packets in a system running shoreline? I _think_ I see how to configure it, but I''d be really interested in finding a howto or something... Thanks! Mike- -- Mornings: Evolution in action. RE: Shorewall and an inline IDS (snort-inline orhogwash)
I made an atempt to run snort_inline and shorewall on the same system but I could not get snort to see the packets. Maybe someone with a little more iptables knowledge could tell me what I''m doing wrong or if its possible to have the systems setup so that it places packets that the firewall would allow into QUEUE. After setting up and starting shorewall I then issue the following

eth0 & eth1 changing every boot
This is probably a stupid question, but I''m stumped. Practically every time my firewall boots (not often, but still) eth0 and eth1 exchange places (internet and intranet). How do I lock them down? SuSE 9.2, Shorewall 2.2.3. Thanks! Mike- -- Mornings: Evolution in action. Only the grumpy will survive. -- Please note - Due to the intense volume of spam, we have installed site-wide

A problem reading configuration file
Hi! For some time, there is a regression in wine, which disables my Dynatext reader from working. It tries to open it's configuration file but unsuccessfully. The file IS there and former wine versions allowed the program to read it. I was recommended to do a regression tests to find a particular patch but it's too time-expensive for me these days, so I did a full trace and found an

Help with error message: Can't become connected user

smbfs patch - listing large direcories from an OS/2 server
Hi! Here's a patch that allows Linux smbfs to list large directories (i.e. > 100 items) when talking to an OS/2 server. There is a misunderstanding about the flags sent in the FINDFIRST request which causes the OS/2 server to indicate an EOS (end of search) in the FINDFIRST response, even when there are more items to be listed. The result is that smbfs will display only the first ~120

Missing Files/Missing Folders from an NFS Share
I'm trying to get to the bottom of where the normal directory functions differ in results for block storage compared to NFS. I created a short c script to look at the offsets generated for the directory when block storage backed in comparison to NFS backed. block storage backed are always positive: File: 5050, Offset: 9213006461214587617 File: 6567, Offset: 9218690536865144001 File: 4033,

isolinux source, detecting 8086 cpu
Hi, I was looking through isolinux and noticed you had trouble detecting 8086 cpu's. I have some experience with this so I thought you might like some different info. The behavior of the "push sp" instruction changed after the 8086 to pushing sp before updating it. I've included a snippet of one of my bootstraps in case you want to use it (or just want to understand better).

sip.conf not paying attention to allow/disallow
In my sip.conf, under general I have: disallow=all allow=g729 allow=alaw allow=ulaw Then I have a specific sip: [RNK] <clip> disallow=all allow=alaw allow=ulaw allow=gsm If I do this: exten => _9.,1,Dial(${EXTEN}@RNK,60) The call still goes out as G729 even though I've told the RNK to disallow g729. I need to be able to make other 729 calls but to this one paticular group, they

NFS Exporting / not working ???
I'm fairly certain I'm not losing my mind, but.... I'm a very recent convert from fedora 7 to Centos 5. I had the / filesystem exported and it worked fine. Installed Centos, dropped the very same exports file I was using successfully into /etc, restarted nfs, and it won't allow anyone to access. If you mount it from a different system, the mount succeeds, but no files or

Can anyone tell me what the error is with recursion here? It is keeping my smbclient from giving AMANDA a sice for the share.
