NIS as user authentication
Hi all,
I believe that I have asked this in one form or another, but I did
not see an answer. ( it could be that I missed it ) do please forgive me
if I did, but could I ask you all to humor me for a moment.
Is there any way to get Samba to use YP ( NIS ) as the basis for
user authentication? If not at this time ( as I have not been able to
determine that it is

Idmap_ad not working correctly under samba 3.5.2
I have investigated further and compared the behaviour of samba 3.3 and
samba 3.5 on 2 identical SLES9 VM's. Samba 3.3 is working as expected
with our Win2k3 SFU Domain and idmap_ad module. Samba 3.5 is not. I
noticed that there are a few kerberos params that have changed in 3.5
but I just can't get 3.5 to work as expected:

PXE boot woes
Hello list,
I need to load windows automatically.
I have Argon Technologies CMS (Client Management Systems).
http://argontechnology.com
I have always had problems with this product because it uses the old MS DOS
NET Client 3.0 with a LAN manager stack to copy the files from a Microsoft
share.
What I need is a Linux boot floppy that will remove partition 1 and
re-create it then format as fat

[PATCH 00/53] drm: Convert to platform remove callback returning void
Hello,
this patch series adapts the platform drivers below drivers/gpu/drm
to use the .remove_new() callback. Compared to the traditional .remove()
callback .remove_new() returns no value. This is a good thing because
the driver core doesn't (and cannot) cope for errors during remove. The
only effect of a non-zero return value in .remove() is that the driver
core emits a warning. The device

[PATCH RFC v1 00/52] drm/crtc: Rename struct drm_crtc::dev to drm_dev
Hello,
while I debugged an issue in the imx-lcdc driver I was constantly
irritated about struct drm_device pointer variables being named "dev"
because with that name I usually expect a struct device pointer.
I think there is a big benefit when these are all renamed to "drm_dev".
I have no strong preference here though, so "drmdev" or "drm" are fine
for me,

[PATCH v2 0/8] drm: make leftover drivers call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at the right times
This patch series is the leftovers of a patch series sent in September
2023 [1] in an attempt to get some of the patches landed finally.
This patch series originally came about after a _long_ discussion
between me and Maxime Ripard in response to a different patch I sent
out [2]. As part of that discussion, we realized that it would be good
if DRM drivers consistently called

[RFT PATCH v2 00/12] drm: call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at the right times
This patch series came about after a _long_ discussion between me and
Maxime Ripard in response to a different patch I sent out [1]. As part
of that discussion, we realized that it would be good if DRM drivers
consistently called drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() properly at shutdown
and driver remove time as it's documented that they should do. The
eventual goal of this would be to enable removing

Cannot access WD's NetCenter drive from linux
Hello folks.
I bought a Western Digital NetCenter drive since it
seemed a low-cost way of having a NAS in my home. The
NetCenter drives run GPL'ed software (I downloaded the
source from Western Digital's Web site, and it refers
to Broadcom's "BCM478x Linux NASoC Software." The src
directory also contains samba 3.0.2.)
The device offers two ways of accessing your data:
