I am facing the following problems with internet on my acer aspire 2920 laptop running centos 5.2 ; whenever I launch mozilla firefox 3 beta 5 it takes at least one and a half hours just to load the homepage http://www.google.com/ig which in my windows partition takes just under 1 second and also my internet connection is a speedy 256 kbps / up to 2 mbps on BSNL in india .... Also check that your /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/hosts are correct, there has in the past been an obscure problem that causes the whole X window system to perform poorly when it's unable to resolve an IP address for the local host name.

Check /etc/resolv.conf and set your DNS settings here.
Dear All, I have a Centos 5.2 server used as a squid proxy server for quite sometime and was workin fine after a power failure the system refused to boot i jus see the grub boot load screen n then hangs so using the space bar n with the arrow keys i selected my earlier kernel and it booted fine i think that the latest kernel file i have that isvmlinuz-2.6.18-92.1.17.el5xen is corrupted. how could i restore it back will yum upgrade solve the problem appreciate ur help regards fabian -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
