Windows 2K/XP Profile/Homedir replication issue?
Hey there,
Just a question for you Samba 2.2.x gurus out there :)
We have a contingent (a steadily increasing contingent) of Win2K and WinXP
workstations.
Does anyone here know how to stop the profiles from replicating?
If we create a file in the profile dir, say \\PDC\UserHome\profile.doc.
It will replicate that to the profile directory, while one file or two files
are not a problem, we use

ODP: Re: freeradius + NTLM + samba AD 4.5.x
Hi,
thank you very much for testing everything out. Great work!
One question: passchange - which application are working with passchange
on radius ?
In the moment every user with an expired password is NOT able to use
services using radius
for authentication (WLAN,VPN). Is there any documentation available ?

Cannot access Windows 10 printer - but can access all other parts of teh server (disks, folders etc)
Hi,
I am very new to mailing lists so please excuse any mistakes I make
regarding ettiquete etc.
On a home network (Windows/Apple/Lunux) everybody has co-operated
happily. I recently swapped my Linux system from Mint (Mate) to Debian
(KDE) Buster.
I can no longer access the Windows machine's printer form Debian.
I have tried many things and done a great deal of googling but cannot

ODP: Re: freeradius + NTLM + samba AD 4.5.x
Hello,
I can definately confirm that it's working.
My basic setup is:
1) Samba 4.7.6 AD DC (2 of them), compiled from source, on centos 7
2) Freeradius 3.0.13 + samba 4.6.2 as domain member, packages straight
from centos repo. // I tested also on freeradius 3.0.14 and samba 4.7.x
smb.conf on the DC is pretty basic, most important is obviously in

XP clients cannot find profile after logout when re-login
I'm facing a problem with logins on XP (only used by now) clients when a
user has logged out first.
The user starts his PC, he is able to login to the domain and igets his
profile in a proper way. Now the user wants to logout, he get's the
login screen again, he tries to login again and the message appears that

Purpose of LOGIN and LOGOUT
What is the purpose of the LOGIN <upsdevice> and LOGOUT commands in the
network protocol? It seems if I supply USERNAME and PASSWORD then I am able
to perform any operations on the device, so why would I need to use LOGIN?
And since LOGIN takes a <upsdevice> but LOGOUT does not, I guess that
LOGOUT is implicitly associated with the last (most recent) LOGIN? Which
means a single client

imap-login ESTABLISHED client sessions not timed out by server
Good morning everyone,
I noticed some mobile client connections that I know should have
timed out at least 20 mins ago, yet these are still there. The device
in question lost its 3G connection and never re-established it. I know,
because in this case it was my 'phone ;) Why should the imap-login keep
the copnnection in in EST, when it was dropped ages ago. I imagine that

Full Logout of Samba Share (from XP)
How can I logout of a samba share from Windows XP (without logging out
the user on XP client)?
I've got a samba 3.0.14 running on debian sarge in user=security mode.
When I to file run "\\server" from a windows XP client, I get prompted
for a username / password and everything works fine. If I run "net use"
on the XP machine it may or may not show the connection to the

Agent Login, Logout, Ready, Not Ready from the CTI application
Hi All;
We know that agents can login and logout from the phone handset. But if we need the login, logout, ready and not ready to be from an application and to be integrated with the CRM, how to acheive this?
Normally in Cisco and AVAYA, they use CTI integration and the CTI client (which is embded in the CRM application) will receive the the caller id or information via that CTI client.

Samba4 logging the users login and logout from their workstation
Hi there,
May I ask you about the subject? Is it possible to log
the users login and logout to/from their workstation somehow? We tried
the loglevel setting in smb.conf, but that is not so good...
We would
like to see just that when was the user login to which workstation, and
when was his/her logout.
Thank you for your help!

Windoze don't forget username/password (revalidate=yes why not working?)
Hy again!
OS: Debian Woody 3.0, kernel 2.4.20-grsecurity
Samba: 2.2.8a
status: samba up, and running
Problem: If I use a usrname/password on client machines, (win98 and winxp/2k)
I could not log on as an other user to the machine, only if I logout, or reboot
the client. I1ve read in O'reilly's samba book, that there is an option
revalidate. But testparm says, it is unknown. How can I

XP Pro, Samba 3 profile problems
I have really weird problem with XP Pro and Samba 3 (I tried 3.0.1 and
3.0.2). Samba 2.2.8a works with no problem.
I can login with no problems. But when I login and logout few times
(sometimes one, sometimes five times) then XP can not load roaming profile
from the server (login still works). I can access to all shares with no
problems. The only way to fix that is to restart XP machine. And then

Roaming/local profiles behavior in XP
Hey all,
Relatively new to Samba configuration here - I've set up a system where
XP clients can login and get their roaming profiles and all is well
with that, but I see the synchronization which takes place on logout to
be a big problem. So, I'm looking to turn off roaming profiles and
instead go with remapping the documents, desktop and pictures folders
to their server

XP client only uploads roaming profile to server after client is restarted
I have a number of XP clients which are configured to use roaming
profiles stored on a samba server (samba v. 3.0.24, Debian etch).
One client works perfectly, in that the roaming profile is always
downloaded at login and uploaded immediately at logout. This is true for
all users logging in on that client. Consequently I've no reason to
suspect the samba configuration or permissions.

newbie: Login/Logout in view
I am using the acts_as_authenticated plugin to manage logging in/logging
out. There are a few controllers, such as search, that I don''t mind
people accessing regardless of whether they are logged in or logged out.
My current view just has some static links on the left that say Login
and Logout. How should I set it up so that it says Login when not logged
in and log out when logged
