Outlook .pst on a samba share; do or don't?
Hi listers. People here are trying to push me into moving the Outlook .psts on a samba share for back-up reasons. I'd like to hear your experience about this: is it feasible in the size of 20 users with 400...800MB each .pst? Any special settings on samba side? Something special that I should pay attention to? Or is just "NO"?

Is it posible to force Windows 2000 to send print job name?
Hi, I need to log print job's. But Windows 2000 send me only 'Remote Downlevel Document' as a job name (%J macro in print command). (I don't have other Windows system versions to test it there, but from Linux}smbspool command) it works fine - job name is "Remote Downlevel Document + job name"). Is there any possibility how to force (or get) print job name from Windows

Scripting with smbpasswd
Hi All, I'm writing a website on which users can change their Samba-password. I therefore use the smbpasswd-utility which I execute through the PHP function system (or exec, it doesn't really matter). I have to use the -s switch for smbpasswd to enable it to read input from STDIN, which I redirect to read the information from a file. I execute: /usr/local/samba/bin/smbpasswd -r

OT? PDF printer driver for automatic deployment
Hi, I've got a printing server running Samba 3.0alpha21 (on Linux). The client machines running Windows 2000 are producing PDF files by printing to a "virtual" printer on the Samba machine. The printer driver shall be installed from the Samba server on demand. I need color output, b/w is not sufficient. Everything works fine, i.e. the PDF conversion process and the automatic driver

"unix password sync" and RedHat 5.1
Hello! I'm trying to use unix password sync = true on an Intel-RedHat 5.1 samba server, because I want to have one program (e.g. smbpasswd on the unix comand prompt) to change unix and "encrypted samba" passwords; changing passwords from clients is nice but secondary. I used FLAGSM = -DLINUX -DALLOW_CHANGE_PASSWORD -DFAST_SHARE_MODES -DNO_ASMSIGNALH -DGLIBC2 -DQUOTAS LIBSM =

Gigabit Throughput too low
Hi I was wondering if you ever got better performance out of your Gigabit/IDE/Fc2? I am facing a similar situation. I am running FC2 with Samba 3.x My problem lies in not that I am limited to 10 MBytes per second sustained. I think it's related to this pdflush and how it's buffers are setup. (I have been doing some research and before 2.6 kernels bdflush was the method that was used and

PDF Printer issue
Hello Everyone, I have a slight issue with configuring a PDF printer on my Samba servers. I have input the following into my smb.conf file and it does create the printer as well as work to create PDF files, except that it only functions when "printing" to that printer via Excel 2002. If I attempt it with anything else, even the Windows Test print, it fails. Now, in the Windows

Dial plan - does not stop after first match
My dial plan seems to work great - in that when I call extensions 1234 it connects to 1234. Strangely, after the call terminates (the other side hangs up first), Asterisk continues in the same context and then matches to extensions _. which causes an invalid extension error! Why does asterisk not leave the context (called internalmenu) after the remote hangup? Instead, it continues to the

Wrong computation of time differenze in POSIXct - additional digits
Hello, I wanted to compute the time differenze between to times: first =as.POSIXct( "2012-06-15 16:32:39.0025 CEST") second = as.POSIXct("2012-06-15 16:32:39.0086 CEST") second - first The result is Time difference of 0.006099939 secs instead of just 0.0061 secs So R adds aditional numbers after the result. I know I could round it in this case. But I am working with a

domU with gigabit ethernet or recommendations?
Dear Xen Users, I have a rhel5 dom0 machine with four nics, two public and two private. My goal is to run two xen instances, a fully virtualized rhel4(with a custom kernel, hence the fully virtualized) and a paravirtualized rhel5. Each instance will need one public and one private nic with gigabit connectivity. At the moment I''m simply bridging two nics to each instance. Is this the
