How to prevent creation of unwanted user home directories with samba and winbind........
Hi all, We're using NT4.0 server as a PDC. I can easily logon the domain on Mandrake 10.1 with samba and winbind. There is no problem with domain logons. All we want is to create domain user home directory when the user logon the computer locally. But sometimes some domain user home directories are created at /home/NTDOMAIN directory automatically even if they didn't logon the computer

Re: Possible compromise ?
that only works when you are presuming that the host was not hacked already because i would clear those logs when i hacked a system :) but indeed it's a try, If you remain unsure, it is best to reinstall the system to be sure that a fresh and newly updated (yeah update it when installed :)) system is not compromised at that time.. loads of work, but it gives you some relief to know that

Variance-covariance matrix
Dear R help forum, I am using the function 'coxph' to obtain hazard ratios for the comparison of a standard treatment to new treatments. This is easily obtained by fitting the relevant model and then calling exp(coef(fit1)) say. I now want to obtain the hazard ratio for the comparison of two non-standard treatments. >From a statistical point of view, this can be achieved by dividing

users.map file
In our users.map file we have the following entries: unix1 = nt1 unix2 = nt2 unix3 = @unixgroup3 unix4 = @unixgroup4 When we create shares on the samba server, we assign the valid users as @unixgroup3 or @unixgroup4. For whatever reason, if a share has @unixgroup4 as the valid users entry, we cannot connect to it from the nt side. If we flip-flop the group entries in the

Problem with my 'master browser'
Hi! Configuration: NT1 (NT Server 4.0 SP4) Unix2 (samba 2.0.3) Is this a normal behavior? My NT-Server and my samba-server a fighting to be the master browser. Look also at my smb.conf [global]-section. The OS-Level of my samba-server is much higher. /var/log/log.nmb: ***** [1999/10/06 14:01:07, 0]

Re: Possible compromise ?
Yeah but if you are uncertain about your own box my VERY STRONG advise is that you reinstall. IF your host is indeed owned, then you are a lot further away then just reinstalling, god knows what issues can arrise when a cracker exploits the system to do bogus tasks.. Then i say: Too bad for your time, sorry but it's like that -- Kind regards, Remko Lodder Elvandar.org/DSINet.org
