3.0.11 + idealx 0.8.7 joining workstation to domain not working -see why
Hi, After playing around with Samba 3.0.11 with smbldap-tools v0.8.6 and later with v0.8.7 it seems that joining workstations to domain with 'smbldap-adduser -w ws001' is not possible because it generates LDAP entries only as objectclass posixAccount and objectclass sambaSamAccount is missing. So joining domain from workstation or making Computer account with smbldap-useradd -w

nexthop: free service to pstn via fwd/iaxtel
(found on dslr voip forum) http://www.freephoneproject.com/nexthop/ I think this is pretty cool. not too sure how stable/durable though, at least not until there are a lot more nodes providing service. also unsure of the legality vs. your average telco's consumer tos, but it's definitely not reselling. jeff pulver (crom bless him) seemed to be fairly amused, stuff like this fits

Samba 3.0.11 compile issue on AIX5.1 - pdb_ldap.c
I've run into a compile problem with Samba 3.0.11 and have searched the web, lists, and bugzilla for assistance, but was unable to find anything that helped with these errors. I have been able to successfully build this release without ldap/ads support, however with the ldap/ads support it fails to build pdb_ldap.c. I am using AIX 5.1 using the gcc compiler. I have also ensured that OpenLdap

winbind 3.0.11 breaks winbind trust if netbios disabled?
Hi all. I've just upgraded from 3.0.7 to 3.0.11 and now my server can no longer establish a trust relationship with the domain controllers. It appears to be because we have netbios turned off (in config: disable netbios = yes). I was getting this error: trusted_domains: Could not open a connection to DBG for PIPE_NETLOGON (NT_STATUS _DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_NOT_FOUND ...so I searched the list

[BUG] Samba 3.0.11: nmbd forgets to close stderr
To start all the daemons in my Linuxes I use the code like: errtext=`daemon 2>&1` if [ $? -ne 0 ]; do smth. with errtext too... And this used to work for Samba as well. But for 3.0.11 (and very probably not only for this release) this code doesn't work for nmbd: `nmbd 2>&1` freezes forever. But the daemon is started and works at the same time. And the shell

From 3.0.11 to up-to-date versions protocol problem
Hi. We have been using samba 3.0.11 for years and now we need to add some win7 machines to our domain. So I test up-to-date Samba versions (3.6.19, 4.1.0 compiled, and Centos today "native" binary package 3.6.something) and with all of them I run into the same problem. I get stuck with protocols when checking XP machines (which works like a charm in 3.0.11 domain) When max protocol is

3.0.11 groupmapping 'feature'
Hello, After upgrading our samba DC from 3.0.10 to 3.0.11, we have been experiencing problems with groupmapping. In 3.0.10, we had to explicitly map our Unix groups (local or NIS) to NT groups with a 'net groupmap add' command. However, in 3.0.11, all our Unix groups are mapped automagically. Although they do not show up with a 'net groupmap list' on the DC, our clients can

rpc trust gives NT_STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE with 3.0.11
When I try to establish a trust from SAMBA 3.0.11 to Windows 2003 I get the error: NT_STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE. I have no problem the other way. I had no problem either, when I ran SAMBA 3.0.9, and the problem disappeared when I down-graded to 3.0.9. Here is what happens ('CALYPSO' is the Windows-server and 'KONTOR' is its domain-name): [root@linux /root]# net rpc trustdom
