Join the Samba-Domain with win2k pc
Hello, I've got a problem. I've installed on a SuSE Linux 7.0 the Samba version 2.2.4. Now if i trie to join the domain with a win2k pc I get an error message back saying that the username and/or password I supplied does not match the ones Samba has got. SMB-server from Win2k -> Red Hat Linux 7.2 - Samba 2.2.1a seen in Network Neighbourhood but not browsable
Hi everyone, I am new to the list and new to Linux as well as to Samba. I've read quite a few howtos, man-pages and other docs on samba now. I configured my own SMB-server with smbd and nmbd. Of course I generated a smb.conf file and my server is accessible and running on the Linux mashine. I can connect with smbclient to the Linux-mashine and to the win2k-mashine (hostname and service

samba 2.2.7a, security=server, password server = win2k, winxp client
Hello, I'm having some problems with the this setting. I'm trying to have a winxp client logon to a samba-2.2.7a machine which is using a win2k server as password server. It works if I use a linux client (smbclient): smbclient -L pandora -U bush%george Pandora is the samba machine, and it contacts the w2k server and validates bush's password. This is working, but only with

Driver Download with Foomatic-PPDs: Win2K Client says "Device settings cannot be displayed" if PPD's TranslationString longer than 40 chars
Hi, Samba list readers, I am forwarding these mails from one of the Linuxprinting.org lists to you (with the $SUBJECT changed by me), because surely some of you must have been bitten by this too.... This problem is verified on W2K (but not yet for NT/ME/XP/9x). Cheers, Kurt ################# problem description by Elena Khan #################### -------- Original Message -------- To:

Win2K registry not loading correctly
Hi, I've noticed that my Win2K registry just won't load correctly. In Win2K regedit nothing shows up at all - not even home registry values - and in Win98 regedit (running in my w2k configured wine) only few values show up, I believe those are my home registry values. Here's the relevant stuff from config, built with winesetup: [Drive H] "Path" = "/mnt/winnt"

Samba as remote file share
Hello, I have a client who is hoping to use Samba over the internet. He hopes to be able to setup a single mount point that can be used by employees from various locations via their broadband internet connections. The clients will be a mixture of Linux, Windows 98, and Windows 2000/XP machines. I know that a solution like this would be possible if all of the clients and the server were on

w2k/XP won't join samba pdc
Hi I'm sure this must have come up before - if so I apologise. I have googled, read HOWTOs FAQ and numerous personal accounts on how to configure samba as a PDC but to no avail - neither w2k nor XP will join the domain. NT4 Workstation and Win9x I have working fine - where have I gone wrong ? Linux SETUP: RedHat 7.3, samba-2.2.7-3.7.3 (upgraded from 2.2.3a) Win2k SETUP: Win 2000 Pro,

Win2k joining Samba 2.2.2 domain.
Hello, everyone. I'm trying to make Samba 2.2.2 a PDC for Win2000 clients. I believe that I have set the Linux Samba machine up correctly. For your review, these are the steps that I have taken: * compile Samba 2.2.2 from source, no extra options. * make; make install. (to /usr/local/samba) * groupadd machines (for my machine trust accounts) * groupadd smbadm (samba domain admin group) *

SV: syslinux tool for Win2k and 'safeboot' option
Hello Luis Thansk Yes we tried that and it works, but if you are in the field and only have new clean compact-flash and no DOS, you are in trouble. I can syslinux directly to the USB card-reader/writer under Linux without problems too. It just appears as a SCSI-device(/dev/sda). best regards ole at danelec.dk * danelec electronics a/s * Blokken 44 * DK-3460 Birkeroed * DENMARK *

Samba 2.2.7a & CUPS 1.1.18, Win2k is not downloading cups windows drivers
I'm building an new server with CUPS 1.1.18 and Samba 2.2.7a (Both compiled from source) Installed the printer with CUPS and printed a test page with CUPS. Next step make Samba use CUPS. I've used cupsaddsmb command to do this, which completed successful. Running command: smbclient //localhost/print$ -N -U'root%XXXXXXXXX' -c 'mkdir W32X86;put /var/spool/cups/tmp/3e1bf35d1d1f9

Samba 3, Win2K, and MIT KDC -- possible?
After setting up Samba 3 I noticed the Windows 2000 box was requesting a ticket from the KDC for HOST/<NETBIOS NAME>@MYREALM.COM when it tried to connect to the Samba server. I presume that W2K is sending the ticket it is granted along to the Samba server. If that presumption is correct, is it possible to make Samba authenticate the user with the Kerberos ticket they present? If so, how
