Mapping Windows groups to Unix ones on Samba 2.2
Hi all,
Now that I've got Samba 2.2.12 running correctly on that HP-UX box, I
need to allow write access to a given AD domain group.
What is the right way to do it on Samba 2.2?
I added a group.map file in smb.conf, and a line inside that said:
unixgroup = "AD Domain Group"
Then in smb.conf, I put in [global]:
groupname map = /etc/opt/samba/group.map
And in the correct

Cannoi delete files: "the mounted file system does not support extended attributes"
Hi all,
I'm having what seems like a strange problem, I hope I'm not missing
something obvious, any help will be appreciated.
When trying to delete files on a Samba share, I get the message "Cannot
delete <file>: The mounted file system does not support extended
attributes."
What is strange is that it depends on weird conditions:
in one directory, if I create a file

smbstatus as non-root
Hi!
What's the way to see list of open files on samba server (information which smbstatus
gives) without giving user full root privs for the server?
Thanks,

Printer drivers installation: files are not deleted
Hello all,
I'm running Samba 3.5.5 on Debian 5, and following the documentation as
closely as I can to install drivers using rpcclient.
I first install the driver on a Windows 7 x65 workstation, then use
rpcclient/smbclient to fetch the files.
I then use smbclient to put those on the print$ share of the Samba
server. So far, so good.
Then I use rpcclient to add those files, and that

C Compiler for samba1.9.18p1
Where can I get a freeware C compiler for Solaris 2.4 for x86?
And how can I perform a very simple test that the compiler works on
my machine, before trying it on the samba Makefile?
The date and version number - maybe "cc /help"? - would be a start.

pam needs root with 2.0rc2 on Solaris?
Hello all,
I have a question using PAM to authenticate on Solaris 10, with 2.0rc2.
I need to set the user for auth-worker to root, else it will return
"Unknown user". Is that expected? I'm using PAM, so why does it need
access to /etc/shadow?
TIA!
Laurent

smbstatus - switched off computers are sometimes showed
I have a Samba server configured as PDC for ~100 computers. It's version
3.0.24 running on Debian Etch (distribution package).
I want to write a tool for user logon/logoff tracking. Because parsing
log files is hard job (windows frequently disconnets or connects during
user session or etc.) I decide to use smbstatus output which seem to be
reliable.
So I run smbstatus binary every 10

No automatic refresh?
Hi!
I've been struggling with this install of Samba 2.0.4b on Linux/x86 2.0.36.
All of the client machines run Windows NT 4, SP 3.
I'm exporting /tmp as pub, and if I right click in the folder and create
a new folder, it doesn't show up until I go to 'view' and 'refresh'.
If I delete something, it doesn't go away until I refresh.
Why?

"shared mem size" parameter and smbstatus
I am trying to use the "shared mem size" parameter in Samba 2.0.4b, but
the size reported by smbstatus does not match the value I am using.
Without the parameter, the default is 1MB, and the size reported by
smbstatus is indeed 1048576. However, when I set the value of "shared
mem size" to 5242880 (5MB), smbstatus says 879608. Is smbstatus not
reporting the actual size, or

in 3.0.8pre2 the smbstatus command always shows connections _and_ shares even if using the switches '-p' for showing processes only or '-S' for showing shares only or '-B' for showing locks only:

smbstatus & connections.tdb
Greetings,
After recently upgrading Samba from 2.0.7 to 2.2.2 on my Solaris
Unix servers, I have problems running command 'smbstatus'. When
I run smbstatus as root, it correctly displays connection information
for users who've mapped network drives to server shares. However,
when I run smbstatus as non-root, instead of displaying connection
information, it issues the message
