Hello Norma,
Try the following first:
smbclient -L servername
if that works, then smbstatus should work - the status..lck file doesn't
exist
until a client connection is made...

I can't seem to get past the 1st part of a samba install
when i look at "smbstatus" i get the following
"Couldn't open status file /var/lock/samba/status..lck"
any help would be appreciated
