id: cannot find name for group ID
I'm trying to figure this out, but not having any luck...
I'm running Ubuntu 6.01.1 LTS, which has Samba 3.0.22 included in the
distribution.
I've got samba and winbind configured, as well as nssswitch. Active
Directory users are able to log into the computer and are
authenticated by samba, but when I log in via a console:
# su - llama
Creating directory '/home/CORP/llama'.

Low handset microphone volume with Sipura SPA-841
I have just bought several Sipura SPA-841 SIP phones, and after some testing I
have found out that the volume received by other parties when calling using
the handset is very low. I've been able to reproduce this problem in the 3
phones I've tested so far. I've tried tweaking several configuration options
but nothing I has helped so far.
Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Can't access shares from Windows Clients (Win2003 AD & Samba3 as Member Server)
This is my first venture into the world of Samba 3. I have a Win2003 AD
domain in native mode (no Win2000, NT4 domain controllers.)
My samba server successfully joined the domain. The problem I'm having is
when I try to access shares on the samba server from a windows client, I get
a Username/Password prompt. Giving my AD username/password doesn't work.
Tried all variations of my

I can run???
Hello
I'm using icecast 1.3.10, and streamcast-0.8
I started it with nohup icecast & and it was happy for a while then the stream dropped out. I looked in nohup.out, and there was about 500 lines that just said "You can run, but you can't hide!"
After I changed my underwear, I looked through the source to verify that the message was coming out of Icecast and not the RIAA

pxelinux+memdisk experience & problem..
hi:
i try to make some images for pxelinux+memdisk.
the version i try is 2.0.6 and 2.0.7pre5
for 2.88M floppy image, first i make a 1.44M boot floopy,
then use "winimage" to load the disk and transfer it to
2.88M format, then save the image. it seems a easy way to make
a 2.88M boot image.
for harddisk image, i use vmware to build a virtual machine
with 20M harddisk, make it boot

Hi.
I am trying to configure sendmail that is looks up the users
credentials to allow them to send email via that server
via an imap server on the same machine when sending email
while on the road.
I can send email when specifying a user that is stored
in the servers /etc/shadow ... no problem but I cannot
get my head around it how to do make saslauth OR sendmail

Logon scripts in Windows 2000
I am certain this is a stupid question, but I have been reading books
and searching Google for the answer and have come up blank.
Are domain logins required for login scripts to work or will they work
in workgroup mode as well?
Thanks in advance
and I have my asbestos underwear in case the question is really stupid

And in the smb.conf ex:
[netapp]
root preexec= yourscript
path=yourpath
msdfs root=yes

preexec and msdfs proxy
Hi all,
I was going to ask one more tine before I walk away sad and depressed - any hope on finding out why our installation won't fire 'preexec' with 'msdfs proxy' activated?
'til then!

Had it with Dell Garbage
I've had it with Dell server garbage. They seem to change RAID
controllers as much as I change socks, and then the controllers don't work
with Linux, unless you load a new driver. They sell servers with a PCI-e
slot in them, but then you get it and find out the RAID controller is using
the PCI-e slot! Their sales folks are dumber than rocks, and they change
them more often than I

OpenOffice.org 3.1 installation was corrupted-installed again, nothing in Applications/Office menu
I had a corrupted installation of OpenOffice.org 3.1.
When I used "yum remove openoffice.org-core" the response was "package
openoffice.org-core available but not installed", but then, when I
used "yum install openoffice.org-core there was a long list of
Transaction Check Errors. I then removed
openoffice.org3.1-redhat-menus-noarch which was in the errors.

preexec and msdfs proxy
Good Morning and thank you for your input.
I had and still do understand what both preexec and root preexec do. I had also and still do understand the paths you had explained. I, however, had also already explained on 18 May 2015 15:31:55 CEST why your first solution was _not_ a viable option for us (server2 == NETAPP under warranty). I had also already explained on 21 May 2015 22:41:17 CEST

Weird bandwith behaviour (download throughput) on CentOS based gateway
Hi.
I have a company gateway that is connected to a 30/30 Fiber connection, network termination point is a MRV OS-904.
It acts as a firewall/router for the DMZ/hosts/lans behind.
Software: CentOS 6.9, bare minimum install, all latest patches.
Hardware: Xeon CPU, Intel server MB with two Intel PRO 1000 (e1000, e1000e) network cards, adaptec RAID, 8GB RAM
On the hosts/lan behind I can happily
