Re: VFS Virus Scanner idea...
Chris; I am not personally aware of any open source solutions for server based virus protection and detection on LINUX, but I have used a commercial product from Trend called Server Protect. More information on it is available at http://www.trendmicro.com/products/splinux/ Additionally, their Interscan Virus Wall is an excellent product for scanning E-Mail, Proxy Traffic, and FTP Traffic

Virus Scanner
Hello Listers, does anyone know about virus scanners working on Unix hosts but scanning for all those bad vermin from the M$ world. Best solution (for me) would be a tight coupling with samba, monitoring the I/O as some PC scanners do. Any suggestions? TIA, -- Detlef ////

How to prevent root from managing/disabling SELinux
At work I'm used to tools like eTrust Access Control (aka SEOS). eTrust takes away the ability to manage the eTrust config from root and puts it in the hands of "security admin". So there's a good separation of duties; security admin control the security ruleset, but are limited by the OS permissions (so even if they granted themselves permission to modify /etc/shadow, the

LLVM Developers Meeting JIT BoF -- Request for Topics of Interest
Hi All, The 2020 Virtual LLVM Developer's Meeting is coming up the week after next. I'll be hosting a JIT Birds-of-a-Feather session on Thursday the 8th at 10:55am PDT (See http://llvm.org/devmtg/2020-09/schedule/). I'm planning to run this more like a Round Table: Minimal introduction, plenty of time for discussion. Does anyone have any LLVM JIT related topics that they would

Current status of OS/2 eCS client to Samba 3.0.20b
Subject pretty much askes it all. For those that run OS/2 eCS against Samba servers on a regular basis... looks like I might have to head back in that direction. I am trying to avoid NetBIOS which means the usual SrvIFS I would prefer to have go bye bye once and for all. I did get SrvIFS-IP from the "Beyond DHCP" RedBook yesterday, but is has memory corruption on the server daemon side

LLVM Developers Meeting JIT BoF -- Request for Topics of Interest
Hi Andres, A topic that I'd find interesting is what it'd take to make it easier to > use profile guided optimization in the context of JIT. A few years back > I crudely hacked this together, but it was fairly ugly. It'd be nice to > make that easier. Possibly too complicated for that type of session? We couldn't go into detail, but we could kick off a discussion and

R-2.7.2 infected?
I tried downloading R-2.7.2 (http://cran.cnr.berkeley.edu/bin/windows/base/R-2.7.2-win32.exe, both from Berkeley and cran) and both times I got a warning from Computer Associates eTrust Antivirus (version 7.1.710) that the Win32/Adclicker.JO trojan was detected: The Win32/Adclicker.JO was detected in C:\USERS\USER\APPDATA\LOCAL\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\TEMPORARY INTERNET

LLVM Developers Meeting JIT BoF -- Request for Topics of Interest
Hi All, I've listed the current topics of interest below, along with some notes on each. We only have 30 minutes so we'll barely scratch the surface of these during the BoF itself. My main aims are for you to meet each other, identify potential areas of collaboration, identify things that I can do to unblock you, and get the ball rolling on some conversations that we can continue on the

LLVM Developers Meeting JIT BoF -- Request for Topics of Interest
Hi, I would like to discuss the future/potential use-cases of LLVM JIT. I'm also interested in reducing the compilation time of code in JIT component independent of static compiler. Is it sounds interesting? :) On Sat, 26 Sep 2020 at 07:49, Andres Freund <andres at anarazel.de> wrote: > Hi, > > On 2020-09-25 19:05:42 -0700, Lang Hames wrote: > > The 2020 Virtual LLVM

OfficeScan deletes Rterm as malware
I'm not sure if the problem is actually with R but thought I should report this anyway. After Peter's email regarding the R 3.5.2 release today, I installed the Windows version right away (directly from CRAN and not from a mirror). Unfortunately, my institute's AV sofware TrendMicro OfficeScan 12.0.5147 Service Pack 1 stops and deletes Rterm.exe when running Rcmd.exe INSTALL with

LLVM Developers Meeting JIT BoF -- Request for Topics of Interest
Hi Geoff, Importing symbols into the JIT from an object file or static library...? Sure! Are you interested in doing this with the C API, LLJIT, or raw OrcV2 components? The high-level answer here (which we can dig into further in the BoF) is: For object files: - For raw OrcV2 components you'll want to create an RTDyldObjectLinkingLayer or ObjectLinkingLayer and use the 'add'

LLVM Developers Meeting JIT BoF -- Request for Topics of Interest
Hi Andres, That would be of interest to me too. One thing around this I have been > wondering about is whether it's realistic to merge the optimization and > code generation phases - right now we spend a lot of time re-doing > analyses during codegen that we already had done during optimization. Sounds good to me. I think there are two sub-topics here: (1) JIT specifics. E.g. What

Hi Geoff, We use LLJIT. Do addObjectFile() and StaticLibraryDefinitionGenerator work > for ELF objects? They do. :) I've not tested StaticLibraryDefinitionGenerator extensively on Linux. but we have a regression test checking basic usage. If you run into any trouble at all please file a bug and assign it to me. -- Lang. On Mon, Sep 28, 2020 at 2:05 PM Geoff Levner <glevner at

Antivirus logging linux
Hey Guys, I have a network of windows clients with a couple of linux servers for various tasks. What I would like to do is have some form of antivirus on the clients that will log alerts to something on a linux server and store the info in sql. Anybody have any idea on something that can do this? I tried asking on the securityfocus virus list and I emailed grisoft about their network product.

Problem with Windows XP
Helo, I've a problem with a network of XP Pc's and a Samba Server. The users logs in their homes directories, and later, when they save their files a message arises saying: "the resource is not abailable". If they close the XP session and open again, normaly, they can access to their homes. In another network of Windows 98 PCs, and with the same smb.conf this not occur. I
