WINS serving
Hi all,
I use Samba (nmbd) for WINS serving round here.
Any one know how to set up two WINS servers (on different machines for
resilience) using Samba?
Also, whislt I'm on the subject. Suppose I have a machine with multiple
(physical) interfaces, each with a unique IP address. When it ('s nmbd)
registers with teh WINS server does it register all its addresses?
Moreover, when the

NT Crashes when doing large network file Xfers (was Re: NT crashes during smbtar)
Ernie,
Thanks for the great info.. Based on what you were seeing, would
you suspect that part of the problem is with the combination of NT
and the 3com card (3c595)? Currently, we are ONLY seeing this
under NT Workstation (not server) and almost all of our machines
have this same 3com 3c595 card (only if using 100BaseT)..

factor with numeric names
Hi all,
I have a pretty basic question about categorical variables but I can't
seem to be able to find answer so I am hoping someone here can help. I
found that if the factor names are all in numbers, fitting the model
in lm would return labels that are not very recognizable.
# Example: let's just assume that we want to fit this model
fit <- lm(height ~ age + Seed,

Fortran source code
Hi,
I am wondering if it is possible to view the Fortran source code called by
R functions.
In particular, I am interested in the "leaps.setup" function in a
package called "leaps", which calls Fortran functions "ssleaps", "initr"
etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

xyplot question
Hi all,
I had a weird problem with xyplot and I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out what's wrong here. Basically if I call xyplot() inside a function and I call quartz() after, then the previous xyplot() does not do anything. A short demo of the issue is like this:
library(lattice)
plot.trends <- function()
{
mat <- data.frame(cbind(rnorm(100), rnorm(100)))

Swat problem with samba-3.0.0 RC1
Hello,
I tried to configure a share with samba-3.0.0RC1 but after specifying the
share name and after I clicked "create", nothing happens. Only the header
"share parameters" is shown.
I've searched the list archives and a certain Chee Wai Yeung reported
exactly the same problem with samba3.0.0beta1 on 09/06/2003
Will this bug be fixed before the final release?

recommended in this mailing list, I downloaded and setup successfuly
the pwlib, openh323 lib, asterisk and chan_323.
I have made little changes to default configuration files packed with
asterisk and I managed to call with the telephone plugged in my

Asterisk Radius CDR
Hi Andrew and Willy,
Thanks for sharing the info.
As for enabling radius server debugging 'radiusd -X', made some test calls
don't see the radiusclient sending data to radius server. However, using
radtest or radiusclient testing, able to send data to radius server (after
enabling debug).
For further testing, on my other server using OpenSIPs, setup the

undefined method `time_zone=' on Rails 2.0.2.9129 on Mac OS X

Samba, WinXP and slow printing
I had a serious problem with all my WinXP (some SP1, some SP2) comps
printing over samba to a printer (both, Samba and printer on Kubuntu
(Dapper)). It printed, but it took easily 20 minutes to get the
printout. The file sharing worked very fast and there were no error
messages in Samba logs.

I changed loglevel to 103 and enabled password chat debug. From what I found
in the log-files, I can conclude that

Samba3.0beta1 as PDC with LDAP
I finally got Samba-3.0beta1 as PDC with LDAP backend.
However, I need to specify:
passdb backend = ldapsam smbpasswd:smbpasswd guest
and have the root account's exists in smbpasswd file.
I still could not get a uid=root entry in LDAP to
allow client workstation to join the domain.
When in samba-2.2.8a I could use a fake rid=506 with
uidNumber=0 entry in LDAP (as a SambaAccount) and it

install other OS to unprivileged domain
Dear all,
I have set up one unprivileged Domain-1 with help of FedoraQuickStart and
some help from you.
Now I want to install some other OS to Domain-2.
How can I install a different OS (say Redhat 7.3) onto a unprivileged
domain?
Do I have to copy all files from an existed installation to an image file?
Thanks,
Koala

REPOST: fallback layout mechanism
Sorry for reposting but as I got no reply so far so I am just coming
to try my luck again.
I am doing a multi-lingual website which might have several layout
pages (language dependent)available. I want to do a mechanism to fall
back from one language to another default language if such layout
file
is missing. Any chance I can do an is_exist check on the layout? With
my current code I really want
