create_local_nt_token_from_info3 not pulling supplementary UNIX groups
I'm trying to solve this issue I'm having where using 'valid users =
+unixgroup' just plain doesn't work. I can't find any /documented/
reason why this is so, but nevertheless, it seems to be the case. This
is with samba 3.6.18, but seems to exist in all of 3.6.x and most or all
of 3.5.x and perhaps earlier as well (see bug #6681).
From what I can tell, the underlying

Samba 3.0 won't join Samba-TNG domain
Hi,
I posted this problem before in more detail
(http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=samba&m=104756899022766&w=2) but received
no response.
At the current state of Smaba 3.0 and Samba-TNG these two seem to be
incomaptible. Samba 3.0 can't join a TNG controlled domain.
I think this should affect a lot of installations as TNG as a controller and
"stable" as file/printserver seem

OCFSv1 for kernel 2.6
Hi,
are there plans to make OCSFv1 available for linux kernel 2.6.x ?
We would like to upgrade a RAC on SUSE SLES8 to SUSE SLES9.
SLES9SP2 will support OCFSv2, but if I understand correctly OCFSv1
and OCFSv2 are not compatible and we have to copy all the DB files
from one filesystem to the other.
Thanks for your help.
bye,
Sumit

protocol negotiation failed
Hello guys,
I have got my samba server as PDC run and it worked well. I could see the machine in a windows explorer and the linux/samba users could login into the windows.
Now, suddenly, I can't see samba server in windows explorer any more, but linux users can still log into the windows machines. I can ping from the samba server and it works. When I run
#smbclient -L localhost
I get the

Accumulating smbd processes and sockets in CLOSE_WAIT state
Hello list
Our central fileserver is a Samba 3.0.25b on Solaris 9 and has
10'000 users (several hundreds at the same time).
This week it died on us and when I inspected the machine, it
was out of 8GB Memory and 16GB Swap because thousands of
smbd processes were running.
netstat -na showed that many hundreds of connections to
port 445 were in CLOSE_WAIT state.
We first thought it could be

Add Hosts as Domain Admin
Hi
I found a patch for Samba 3.0.2 allowing to add hosts as
member of the domain admin group.
Has anybody seen a patch for Samba 3.0.3? It took a look at
srv_samr_nt.c but I don't think the old patch will fit.
Why doesn't samba allow domain admins to add hosts to a
domain?
I don't want to give the root password to

replication issues solved by adding GUID names to /etc/hosts
Hi all,
We were having replication issues on wheezy with sernet-samba-4.1.11.
Searching the list I found the following post:
http://marc.info/?l=samba&m=136999742625184&w=2
It says basically that if you are unable to *ping* the GUID names for
your dc's, you might be experiencing a glibc error, where dns names with
an underscore are not properly resolved.
Note: dns is basically

General feature questions
Hi!
For a project I've got to work at, were deciding whether we use Asterisk or not.
It depends on if the following needed Features are realizable: (If someone already knows how to configure it, any suggestions would be great)
- Caller checking:
If someone calls the number of the Asterisk server it should be able to check if the guy is allowed to call this number. That means, that asterisk

unix sync problem
Hi Samba Folks,
When I comment out the following line
unix password sync = yes
from my smb.conf. I get the following error:
Error: the 'passwd program' (/usr/bin/passwd %u) requires a '%u' parameter.
When I comment the above line, I get no error, although
passwd program /usr/bin/passwd %u
exists in the smb.conf.
My smb.conf is as follows:
#/etc/samba/smb.conf
#Samba

3.0.10 with printing patch, NULL devmode, failing to fetch tdb and buffer overflow
Hi Jerry, hi @all,
some users with 3.0.10 with printing patch have problems with old printjobs in her status monitor in windows. Loglevel 10 shows two problems:
1. The devmode for this printer was not set properly (I know, thiswill cause problems).
log.smbd:
[2005/01/05 14:02:09, 8] rpc_parse/parse_spoolss.c:smb_io_reldevmode(2407)
boing, the devmode was NULL
2. A buffer overflow is logged.

Error in colMeans ... what's wrong with my data?
Having searched and searched I still haven't found what's the problem with my data (I've attached the relevant file).
Every time I tried to use the CANCOR-Function I got error messages.
So I turned to check my two sets of variables separately by using the "colMeans"-Function. With one set no problem .. but with the other.

Win95 on a Samba3+LDAP domain on a Debian box
Hi folks,
I have successfuly migrated a WinNT 4.0 Domain to a Debian server with
Samba3+Ldap following the Samba-3 by Example guide from John H. Terpstra (an
impressive good guide) and The Linux Samba-OpenLADP Howto from Jerome Tournier &
Olivier Lemaire.
The domain holds about 800 accounts. There are WinNT servers, WinXP and Win95
clients belonging to it.

buffer_get_bignum2: negative numbers not supported
Hi
I have added smartcard support to PuTTY and this worked fine
until yesterday when we replaced one of our Slackware-9 machines
by a Slackware-10 one.
Slackware-9 contained OpenSSH 3.5p1 while Slackware-10 has
OpenSSH 3.8.1p1.
Now the same keys that worked before do not work anymore and
OpenSSH fails with
buffer_get_bignum2: negative numbers not supported
