Cannot receive files from server 3.0.7 to W2K
Hello,
My problem is the following :
I have a Debian (testing distribution) on which I used to have Samba
server v3.0.2a
it worked perfectly with my other machine which is running Windows 2000.
I recently made a global packages update on my Debian machine, which
apparently changed the Samba server to 3.0.7
Since then, I have been absolutely unable to retrieve files from the
debian server to the

Why does everyone seem to dislike *now?
Greetings,
Last week I began researching Asterisk for the first time. I did what most
noobs would do; downloaded an image that seemed simple and straightforward
and had some credibility (*now). I also downloaded the TFOT version 1 as
a guide.
As questions arose, I tossed a few out in #asterisckNOW channel..and found
it to be a ghost town. Only later did i start to ask a few

Replace full PRI with SIP/IAX trunks...YES/NO?
I've been considering replacing a PRI with SIP or IAX trunks. The
monthly cost difference is marginal, but it would save a bit on the
hardware side and soft trunks would be easier to manage. I can't help
but wonder what I would be giving up? I'd like to hear some "lessons
learned" from those who are doing it or decided, for whatever reason,
it's a bad idea.

Degraded performance using a Linux to Windows Samba/CIFS share
We have been having some performance issues that come and go with our Samba share. At the bottom you will see the smb.conf(I have removed all extra information)
Summary:
We have a windows share that we access via windows and a couple Linux servers. The place we are seeing the most pain, probably because it is where the most IO happens is from the Linux servers. The main thing the Linux

Executing commands even if user hangs up.
Greetings,
I have a dialplan that calls the dictate application, but I want to do
some post-processing on the RAW file created. The post processing is
working fine as long as the dictation application exits gracefully, but
fails when the user simply hangs up.
How can I make sure the system() command is run regardless?
Example:
[test-dictation]
exten => 123,1,Dictate(/tmp/dictate)

Netscape profile scripts?
A while back there was a thread in which many people were discussing how
to make Netscape work with roaming profiles. There was some talk about
how this would require a script to modify the registry, etc. I just
talked to one of the NS programmers who said that the problem would be
fixed and even enhanced in a version 4.5. He didn't say whether the 4.5
code was going to be an internal or

Opening samba shares from W2K system - help
I have a simple LAN microsoft workgroup setup with four W2K systems and one
linux server. I'm planning on the Fedora 4 box to be the printer and file
server. I have samba running and I can see the file shares in the windows
file explorer. However, I can't connect because of a password issue. I
have the same user set up on the linux system (in fact they have the same
logon passwords),

w2k ADS + Samba ADS Member, quirky browse mode
Hello,
I'm seeing an odd quirk running samba 3.0.21c & winbind
with kerberos 1.3.4 joining a windows 2000 ADS domain
on RHEL3.
The Samba server's hostname is "staging".
I run:
/usr/kerberos/bin/kinit Administrator@DOMAIN.COM
net ads join
Then I start up winbind and smb. winbind works prefectly.
I can log in as a domain user from via sshd/PAM, and the

Samba 3 as Domain Member / W2k ADS
Hi,
I set up Samba to be a Domain Member in W2k ADS Domain. The
authentication basically works, the only problem is, that a unix account
with the same name is needed on the samba machine for it to work. (The
pw though checked against the ad.)
How do I get rid of the neccessity to have corresponding unix accounts
for the ads users?
Thanks in Advance,
Rainer

Newbie: Samba Intergration into W2K Domain/ADS
Hello everyone. I humbly admit I need some direction. I have search newsgroups and the Samba help files, but I must be missing something or just not getting it.
I am comfortable witrh Samba in a small workgroup environment, I feel like a fish out of water when trying to intergrate Samba into a W2K Domain/Active Directory environment. While I consider myself technical, I've never had to manage

Not able to see public shares on W2k from Linux
Hi all,
I work with linux and SUSE 8.1 in a W2K PDC environment. I successfully
configured Samba to be able to connect from the Wk2 computers to
linux and vice versa with one exception:
I'm not able to see the public shares of the window computers from linux
(NetShareEnum failed, NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED)
unless I provide a username and password. From Windows to Windows it's no

W2K Domain and Restricted Shares
Okay, we're doing a bit of system revamping at my work since our last
file server crashed and burned in a horrible tragic failure (hard disk
died). Anyways, we've stepped it up a notch with some nice hardware
and the fileserver will be running linux (Redhat 9.0 currently).
Anyways, I'm currently running into an issue. (I'm using samba
2.2.7a-8.9.0 for reference).

samba PDC and access to unauthorised shares from w2k client
I posted this problem before, but still didnt get any solution.
I have a Samba 3.0.14 server as PDC and several w2k clients.
I got a problem when a user tries to access an unauthorised share on the Samba server.
Instead of the usual message box 'Access Denied' the user gets a message box 'Enter network password' on his pc.
When trying to access an unauthorised share on one of the
