How to "source" a R script in a parent/parallel directory (win/linux)
Dear R users,
I would like to source a file independently from the operating system,
but I cannot figure out how.
I apologize for the verbosity of this mail,
but English is not my mother tongue, so I cannot be concise and precise
as I can be in my own language.
I'm writing a script which will be run by some people who are not
familiar with R.
I already tried to teach them some rudiments,

win 2k3 / XP Pro to Samba 3.0.1 open failed, result=-512
I'm having some confusing problems transferring approximately 16GB, in
about 541,000 individual files.
What is happening is that I am starting with a blank destination
directory on a gentoo system running samba 3.0.1, and pulling from one
of two windows systems. The problems come in that each time I use rsync
(version 2.5.7) over samba to keep the data on the gentoo system's side
in sync

smbmount to Win2k dying after kernel/samba upgrades
Really odd problem that I'm having, and I'm totally clueless as to whats
causing it.
Scenario:
2 mounts from a W2K machine to a Linux box. The Win2k box gets powered
down overnight. Obviously during this, if i do a df it freezes because it
cant reach the drives. I used to be able to boot the machine back up in
the morning and it would see the drives again. Not anymore. The same

Is samba or a kernel bug causing my FC4 server to crash?
I've got a fully updated Fedora Core 4 server crashing hard every week or
two. I use Samba via smbmount and autofs to read & delete log files on 17 XP
boxs and 6 NT4SP6 boxes as well as a couple other Windows files servers
every 5 minutes. The first indication of a problem I get is smbmount stops
working, then the server becomes unresponsive to the point where only a
power slam will fix

cannot copy files (samba 3.0.3, kernel 2.6)
Hi everybody.
First of all: i am using samba 3.0.3 and a 2.6 kernel.
I am experiencing a strange problem. I can see, mount and use Windows
shares. I can see and mount also Apple shares (through appleshareip and
some sort of smb/cifs server on the apple side), but i can't browse them
nor copy any files.
With kernel 2.4 i couldn't browse, but i could normally copy files and

2 attempts to install newest hplip 3.11.1
Hi Folks,
the reason: new printer HP LaserJet Pro M1132 MFP
This printer needs a non-free plugin.
On my 64-bit machine with CentOS 5.5 the installation via
hplip-3.11.1.run and hplip-3.11.1.plugin.run
works perfectly (except scanning - but that's not the problem at the moment).
On my second machine - CentOS 5 32-bit I have many problems and printing
doesn't works.

Multiple ENUM entries and Asterisk fails to dial
Hi,
I use Asterisk 1.2.17 in my site, and now I'm trying to configure ENUM
lookup in my server.
When someone calls a number that has multiple ENUM entries, randomly
Asterisk seems to fail to return a correct answer, and dial by ENUM
fails.
I've goggled a bit on this, but didn't get any good conclusion. There
is some RFC Compliant ENUM Macro that can be used that is announced

Unable to mount SMB drive
I have a Windows Server 2003 system I'm trying to back up to a Linux host.
when I access the share with smbclient, I can "see" the files (`ls` returns a
list of files, etc)
smbclient -U shareuser //server/sharename password
But, when I try to actually mount the drive, I get "permission denied" errors
trying to access the drive. (EG: using `df`) Running the following

Since I started to use Debian kernel 2.6.10 (in unstable), the problem
disappeared. Fedora Core 3 uses 2.6.10 too so I don't know

use sliding window to count substrings found in large string
Hello together,
I'm looking for advice on how to do some tests on strings.
What I want to do is the following:
(just an example, real strings/sequence are about 200-400 characters long)
given set of Strings:
String1 abcdefgh
String2 bcdefgop
use a sliding window of size x to create an vector of all subsequences
of size x
found in the set (order matters! ).
Now create, for every string

[LLVMdev] [NVPTX] Eliminate common sub-expressions in a group of similar GEPs
Hi,
We wrote an optimization that eliminates common sub-expressions in a group
of similar GEPs for the NVPTX backend. It speeds up some of our benchmarks
by up to 20%, which convinces us to try to upstream it. Here's a brief
description of why we wrote this optimization, what we did, and how we did
it.
Loops in CUDA programs are often extensively unrolled by programmers and
compilers,
