SMBSH is really neat. After you compile and install it (./configure
--enable-smbwrapper ; make ; make install does it) you simply run it -
it'll give you a login/pw and your usual shell prompt. You then can

Model II regression
Hello,
I am using function lmodel2 to calculate RMA regression between
life-history traits in ladybirds beetles. It works well but I am not able
to plot an RMA regression line on the scatterplot of my data. I am of
course unable to plot the confidence intervals. For ordinary least square
regression abline(lm(x~y))works well but for RMA regression,
abline(lmodel2(x~y))does not do it.

persp and greek symbols in the axes labels
Hello,
I am plotting a 3D function using persp and I would like to use greek
symbols in the axes labels.
I have found examples like this one on the web:
plot(0,0,xlab=expression(kappa[lambda]),ylab=substitute(paste(phi,"=",true,sigma),list(true=5)))
this works well with plot but not with persp:
with the command
persp(M,theta = -20,phi =

Is there a maximum limit for the domU memory ?
Hello everybody
The current limit (we''re working with Xen 4.0.1 on a debian squeeze
server) for the domU memory is 256 Gb
Is it possible to do something to get domUs with more than that ?
Do we have to upgrade Xen hypervisor for that purpose or is a kernel
recompilation sufficient ?
We would like to have a vm with 768 Gb memory...
Thanks for your kind answers !

Une introduction à R/An introduction to R
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Dear all,
it's a long time now since I started to translate "an introduction to
R" in french and the document was sleeping in a quite hidden place on
the web. These times I had an increasing demand from users around the
(french speaking) world who were asking me what was going on.
The translation is about half the way, but considering

importing images
I would like to import "tif" images in R and I do not find any
function that can do that. In Matlab there exists the function "imread"
that can read the most known images format. Does a similar function
exist for R ?
Thanks in advance

multiple plot in odfWeave
Hello R users,
I found the odfWeave package to create an odf document. It seems to be a
very nice tool.
So i tried to used it to create a report with multiple plot:
I create an odt file with some code inside:
I connect to a mysql database
I get a list of projects
foreach project I would like to make a plot (a map exactly)
then in a R console I use the odfweave (inFile, outFile) function.

it's working as I have a table in my output file.
I would like to know how to change the background color for the header

a question
Hi,
I have a program written in R which is good on the version 1.2, but for
the fallowing versions of R, an error always is at the same place.
That is at the level of the fallowing line:
Sur<-
getInitial(res2[m:M,2]~SSasymp(res2[m:M,1],Asymp,resp0,lrc),data=res2)
Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos):numeric envir arg not of length one
I don't know at all this langage for the instant.

partial mantel
Dear all,
Has anyone written R code for partial Mantel Tests- as described for
instance in Legtendre & Legendre (1998) ?
In other words, in a community ecology analysis, I would like to calculate
the correlation between two dissimilarity matrices, controlling for a third
distance matrix representing geographical distances between sites.
Thanks!

Problem with puppetd --listen
Hello all,
I have a little problem with the --listen option.
Id like my client servers to update only when I run puppetrun on the
puppetmaster server. So far, I tried:
puppetd --listen --server mymasterserver -v (on the client server)
Then:
puppetrun --host myclientserver
The updates runs ok... but the client check for updates again every 30
mins or so and I dont want him to do so. I tried:

How to deal with log and puppetrun?
Hello,
Now that I can run my client with the --silent and --no-client option,
Id like to centralize the logs on my puppet server and not on my puppet
clients. The problem is that so far I havent found an option to tell
puppetrun to get the logs back on my server.
Is that possible to do such a thing with puppetrun? (running on v.0.18.4)
Thanks in advance.

problem installing packages
Hello,
I was using version 2.13.2 and I have just downloaded the latest version
2.14.1. However, I''m trying to install the packages I was using and when I
look for them in the packages list, I can´t find many in the CRAN binaries
(e.g. "vegan"). I do find them in the CRAN sources but the installation
fails. I tried downloading the version 2.14.0 and I had the same problem. I

Snom Programmable button Mini Howto and ringstate patch
It's very possible that the Polycom IP600 will work with this. As it is
just an implementation of a SIP standard for subscribing to the state of
other extensions.
As for the feature improvements you might see them from me, but not very
likely. It is easier for me to train my customers to hit *8 (I will
probably just program a pickup button for them) than it is for me to
figure out what I

Some users are not getting their drives mapped.

Problem with mixed-case usernames and group mapping
Hello,
I've got a problem with user<->group mapping. Our windows PDC has
mixed-case usernames. 'getent passwd' is ok, as it simply ignores case
and shows all users in lowercase, but 'getent group' will give me
'group: User,User2', so when I 'id user' it will not be shown as member
of 'group'.
A simple example:
# getent passwd
