"No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe"
Hello Samba folks, A couple years ago I installed Samba 2.2.0 on our HP9000 running hpux 10.20. I am now trying to install it on a customer's HP9000 and am getting the error "No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe" while executing the configure command. I got that error a couple years ago and resolved it by linking /usr/bin/cc and /opt/ansic/bin/cc but that is not

Re: Which Samba (CIFS ?) For HPUX 11.00 ?
Hi Nick, This topic should be on samba@lists.samba.org - not technical. I'll give you a brief overview, and any followup send to me directly. HP-CIFS Server for 11.0 is based upon Samba 2.2.12. Support for 11.0 ends there - at 2.2.12. Go to: http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B8725AA If you want to continue on 11.0, HP posts 3.0.14a Opensource

64 bit installable samba for HP-UX 11.11
Hello All, !!!! Happy New Year 2006 !!!!! Currently we are using TAS as an interop tool to access the UNIX file systems on to windows platforms. For some performance/licenses issues, we would like to migrate to SAMBA now. Our Unix file system is available on HP N-class server running HP-UX 11.11 and our requirement is to install samba on this OS with 64bit support. I searched on samba site and

Samba stops working on HP-UX 11
I've had a consistent problem with Samba from 2.2.1 onwards, maybe even before then, I'm not sure when it started. Anyway, Samba will randomly stop responding to any requests, although it usually occurs after transfering large amounts of data (1 GB+). To get around the problem, I've been restarting samba every night, but we still have the problem occasionally. smbclient shows:

Samba and MC/Service Guard
Samba friends, I work in Wal-Mart's IT department, specifically with Unix Servers of various flavors, but HP-UX is predominant in our Home Office environment. I recently built an two node HA cluster on HP 11.11 boxes. I want to be able to have Samba use the virtual name of my cluster. Currently Samba is configured to use the hardcoded box name, however if the box happens to go down, we

smbfs intermittent errors: tdb_lock failed, ERRDOS 71
Hi, I recently upgraded an older box running as a file server for a small company to Mandriva (Mandrake) 10.1. It's running Samba 3.0.10.1, the default Mandrake package. We have a custom script that mounts a Windows share using smbfs, backs up specific directories, and unmounts when it's done. The problem is, it's not mounting reliably. There is an entry in /etc/fstab for the

tdb/tdbutil.c:tdb_chainlock_with_timeout_internal
Hello. I run samba 3.0.21c on RHEL AS 4 EMT_64 U3 and I've experienced a strange problem where smbd will go (and stay) in the D state. While waiting for IO (possibly), these smbd processes do not respond to client requests, thus samba appears to be down. I could not kill these processes via kill -9 , so I rebooted which worked. The only error I could see out of the ordinary would be

Problem with pdf printing
Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me. I have several pdf printers set up and when I print to them samba becomes unstable and several errors are dumped to the log. These pdf printers were working when I was using version 3.0.6. When I went to a newer version of samba the queue would not clear on the windows side and no errors were logged. Yesterday I upgraded to version 3.0.13-1 and the

tdb lock failures
We've just gone live with a file & print server, and are having major problems with Samba. When used out of hours, with all PCs switched on and connected to the domain, everything works fine. However, during the day, we have problems where users can't print to any samba-hosted printer, Access database applications (where the database is held on the server) won't work, or work
