I am attempting to install Samba 2.0.5a following the UNIX_INSTALL.txt instructions. During the first stage I get an error message. The configure command seems to be ok but the make command (/usr/ccs/bin/make) gives an error as given below: FLAGS = -O -Iinclude -I./include -I./ubiqx -I./smbwrapper -DSMBLOGFILE="/usr/local/samba/var/log.smb" -DNMBLOGFILE="/usr/local/samba/var/log.nmb" -DCONFIGFILE="/usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf" -DLMHOSTSFILE="/usr/local/samba/lib/lmhosts" -DSWATDIR="/usr/local/samba/swat" -DSBINDIR="/usr/local/samba/bin" -DLOCKDIR="/usr/local/samba/var/locks" -DSMBRUN="/usr/local/samba/bin/smbrun" -DCODEPAGEDIR="/usr/local/samba/lib/codepages" -DDRIVERFILE="/usr/local/samba/lib/printers.def" -DBINDIR="/usr/local/samba/bin" -DHAVE_INCLUDES_H -DPASSWD_PROGRAM="/bin/passwd" -DSMB_PASSWD_FILE="/usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd" Using FLAGS32 = -O -Iinclude -I./include -I./ubiqx -I./smbwrapper -DSMBLOGFILE="/usr/local/samba/var/log.smb" -DNMBLOGFILE="/usr/local/samba/var/log.nmb" -DCONFIGFILE="/usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf" -DLMHOSTSFILE="/usr/local/samba/lib/lmhosts" -DSWATDIR="/usr/local/samba/swat" -DSBINDIR="/usr/local/samba/bin" -DLOCKDIR="/usr/local/samba/var/locks" -DSMBRUN="/usr/local/samba/bin/smbrun" -DCODEPAGEDIR="/usr/local/samba/lib/codepages" -DDRIVERFILE="/usr/local/samba/lib/printers.def" -DBINDIR="/usr/local/samba/bin" -DHAVE_INCLUDES_H -DPASSWD_PROGRAM="/bin/passwd" -DSMB_PASSWD_FILE="/usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd" Using LIBS = -lsec -lsocket -lnsl -ldl Compiling smbd/ipc.c smbd/ipc.c: In function `package': smbd/ipc.c:359: `__builtin_va_alist' undeclared (first use this function) smbd/ipc.c:359: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once smbd/ipc.c:359: for each function it appears in.) *** Error code 1 make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `smbd/ipc.o' Could you advise as to what my problem may be. Dear all, I'm getting below error while installion. checking configure summary WARNING: No automated network interface determination ERROR: no seteuid method available configure: error: summary failure. Aborting config Im running it on HP-UX 11.00. only one machine blow out this error mesg all other 5 servers(same confg) gone through well. pl. provide some sollution. thanx in advance Vinoth
Hello Vinoth, There is no need to configure/compile/install Samba on an HP-UX 11.0 system; HP provides this software free on the application CDs. You can install using swinstall; look for the software named B8725AA or B8726AA "CIFS/9000 Server..." (Samba) (this I believe is on cd #3 of the apps cd package) You can also install another free software package named B8723AA or B8724AA "CIFS/9000 Client..." (this is on cd #1 of the apps cd set) which will give you similar functionality as smbmount/smbunmount does for Linux, ie, allow you to mount NT and win9x shares as 'filesystems' onto your HP-UX system. For the latest versions of these products you can download from the web; our current version is based on 2.0.6 Samba, but we are expecting to release on the web our next version within 2 weeks, which will be based on 2.0.7 Samba. The url is: For CIFS/9000 Server (Samba): http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProductInfo .pl?productNumber=B8725AA For CIFS/9000 Client (smbmount/smbumount functionality): http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProductInfo .pl?productNumber=B8724AA These pages will also give you online access to other product info on these products as well as access to the manual set for them. Hope this helps, Don -----Original Message----- From: jayaprakash.j@polaris.co.in [mailto:jayaprakash.j@polaris.co.in] Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2001 11:34 PM To: samba@us5.samba.org Subject: INSTALLATION ERROR Dear all, I'm getting below error while installion. checking configure summary WARNING: No automated network interface determination ERROR: no seteuid method available configure: error: summary failure. Sorry for what I sure is a simple query but I haven't been able to find a solution form the documents to this (probably looking in the wrong place). While running "make" in the installation process of Samba 2.0.7 onto Solaris 8 (Ultra5) I get a fatal error. The details of this are: Compiling smbwrapper/wrapped.c with -fpic *** Error code 1 make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `smbwrapper/wrapped.po' Can anyone give me some advice on how to proceed with this error? Thanks in advance. I see that error when the CPU is getting hot.
