Problems with "nobody" processes in Samba 3.0.4
Hi, Hopefully someone can help me with this because its driving me up the wall. I admin a Samba PDC which authenticates through an LDAP backend. Both the samba server and pam authenticate through the entries in the LDAP database. I recently upgraded to 3.0.4 to combat the M$ hotfix that destroyed password changing. Since then things have been squiffy. All runs fine (apart from a grouping

Run script action when Dahdi phone goes off-hook?
Hi, Long story short - I have an ancient Britsh Telecom phone attached to my Asterisk PBX via Dahdi. It works beautifully, receiving calls, and the call quality is excellent. However, dialling out is impossible, as Asterisk consistently mis-reads the number of pulses the dial sends (it could be a squiffy dial, I'm not sure). Not to mention the fact that, in today's modern "want

Bundled internet explorer doesn't work.
Hi. I've wine installed on Gentoo x86_68. As we know, IE is preinstalled in winprefix, but in my case it doesn't run for both WINEARCH as x86 or x64. It says program error showing me a usual Windows error. Terminal output (http://pastebin.com/42cDr9Xn) as such. I installed IE7 (32), it installed fine but it doesn't work at all... it's completely broken. Obviously I firstly tried

Having problems with the autocomplete on my linux box and firefox. When I use form tags it breaks, without form tags everything works fine. Exact copy of the example provided, but I added form tags.. The initial search and select works but then the box sort of "locks up" and I can''t change it at all, If I do try to type something nothing changes but a second later the whole

nobody owned smbd processes are not ending
I am running the latest release of Samba on RH8 (2.2.7-5.8.0). I use it primarily to provide master browse functionality, and to act as a print server (using CUPS 1.1.17-0.2). I am watching a TOP session, after printing from a W2K workstation. (I restarted Samba before I did this). There is now one smbd processed owned by nobody, which is not ending (and the print has completed). In my

Samba processes domain authenticated user as nobody during logon. bat execution
Beating head on desk again! I have a samba server is running winbind which can access domain. It is working fine and is using domain credentials. I access the samba shares after the user has authenticated against a novell server during the novell logon script. The shares are authenticated with user domain credentials and verified with smbstatus. This works great! If I alternatively use windows

apache2 fastcgi (fcgi) internal server errors, still :(
hi all, I can blab, but here is a sample of my /var/log/apache2/error.log, it has all the info: any ideas what I can do prevent 500s from hitting my users? (besides redirecting them with javascript to the same URL which will be fine on the next request? :) thanks, _alex [Fri Jun 24 12:30:45 2005] [error] [client 172.20.0.175] FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) received from

Dear all, I have received some data arranged like this: # original data id <- rep(letters[1:6], each=2) time <- as.factor(rep(1:2, 6)) y <- as.vector(replicate(6, c(rnorm(n=1, mean=1), rnorm(n=1, mean=2)))) test.data <- data.frame(id, time, y) test.data I would like to perform a paired t-test of the y-values at time=1 against those at time=2, with samples paired by their id. Indexing Mail faster
Hi, I am trying to get faster search results on our webmail client(Roundcube). Besides using Lucene for FTS are there other options? Would having all mails indexed give fast results? Currently the time it takes to search 25,000mails is 4mins. If indexed how much faster are we looking at? Really appreciate if someone could advise about this. Thanks Kevin

svn reorganized?
It appears the repository has been rearranged when compared to the documentation. For the Rails plugin, the correct script/plugin install now seems to be: script/plugin install svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/rspec/trunk/ rspec_on_rails Is this correct?

Permuting rows of a matrix
Hi, I need to permute the rows of a matrix, where each row is independently rearranged. A simple solution is this: shuffled <- datamatrix <- matrix(1:24, ncol = 4) for (i in 1:nrow(datamatrix)) { shuffled[i, ] <- sample(datamatrix[i, ]) } > datamatrix [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [1,] 1 7 13 19 [2,] 2 8 14 20 [3,] 3 9 15 21 [4,] 4 10 16 22 [5,]

Guide to Cisco 79xx
Anybody have a guide to the Cisco 79xx phones? One that I can give the 7 or 8 ppl in my office so that they can stop asking me questions. I was going to type up a basic guide but then decided I don't want to reinvent the wheel, one of you may already have one. I tried to use Cisco's guide but it's for their own protocol, a lot of options are different or rearranged. I need a basic
