2 (Suse), one NT 4 server machine and 5 user databases???
I currently have a setup of 1 NT 4.0 PDC server and to SUSE boxes sharing via a samba share. I seem to have to make 5 different usename/password databases. 1 for NT, 2 for each SuSe box (One Linux and one Samba). Is there a way to have 1 or maybe two databases to update? I've read about LDAP on other connections but I'm a little confused as to what is the best approach. Oh

SASL AUTH LOGIN mechanism problems
Hi all, Have anyone had problems with Exhange 2003 servers trying to use sasl against Postfix+Dovecot SASL using the AUTH LOGIN Mechanism ? I've done some smtp debugging, and it seems that Exchange sends the usename at the same time as AUTH LOGIN i.e: AUTH LOGIN <base64_username> It then expects to be able to send the password. mech-login.c silently discards all data after AUTH

windows 2003 can not login with samba 4.6.4
Hi, We have upgrade samba from 3.6.23-36 to 4.6.4, but we got "*Logon Failure Unknown user name or bad password*" error while trying to access samba form window 2003. And we use usename and password to login, not by the AD. We also test on windows2008 windows2008-R2 window7 windows10, it works. Thanks. Lifeng Ren

Bug report: smbmount 2.0.6 and NT pagefile.sys bug
Hi, I have just installed Samba 2.0.6 and noticed that the "pagefile.sys" smbmount bug still exists: When unsing smbmount to mount an NT4 volume, and doing an "ls" on the mounted directory, I get: # ls /mnt ls: pagefile.sys: Permission denied . IO.SYS SRVMGR.EXE ffastun.ffa summary.dat .. KBROWSER

I have LM8.2 and samba 2.2.3. When i set up the LM machines i could mount shares on NT machines. But no longer. I can smbmount to another Linux machine with no problems, but I can no longer smbmount to any NT machine. [patch] Make passphrase-protected SSHv1 keys work again
ssh-add on OpenBSD current (with malloc -S enabled) crashes ("chunk is already free") when loading my password-protected SSHv1 key (used only for testing). "ssh-add ~/.ssh/identity" also fails to format the prompt properly ("Enter passphrase for :"). The issue is as follows: Starting at ssh-add.c:158 in add_file(ac, filename = "~/.ssh/identity"), we call

SMBMount losing connections to NT server
Hi all, Just a thought - I'm running Samba on HP-UX 10.20,11.0, and MPE/iX, so no SMBMount for me. But Steve's idea that an update to files on the smbserver during a period of inactivity on the smbclient being involved led me to question if this could be an issue with the 'change notify' NT Transact mechanism; Some clients, when doing a treeconnect to an smbshare, will then

NT Server Tools
Hello! I'm the email admin for a reasonably large Exchange/NT system, trying to make a go of a Linux/SLOX replacement as an example of what can be done. Obviously, to do my job I need to run a fair bit of Windows software, and this is where Wine comes in. One of the real biggies is the NT Server Administration tools (the ones provided to run from a workstation) such as USRMGR.EXE and

using smbmount for NT share
I posted a previous thread about using smbmount, but I am still having some problems, using samba version 2.0.5a on SuSE 6.2. I issue the statement: smbmount //NTServer/share /mnt/test -Iaddress -Uid%pswd Afterwards, if I go to the mount directory, i.e. 'cd /mnt' and issue the command 'ls -l' I get an error message 'ls: test: Input/output error'. After that, the mount

Samba error when getting file from NT Server to Linux client
Hi, I have a small problem with Samba in Debian 2.1 (Slink), kernel 2.0.36 and samba 2.0.5. I have a NT Server and a Linux client. I want to get some files from NT Server to the Linux client. They are in the same network and the IP's are: NT Server - 222.222.222.2 Linux Client - 222.222.222.40 Reading samba docs I discover two small utilities:

rookie - mount nt share from Solaris 2.6?
I believe I know the answer, but I'd like to be certain, since I keep seeing references to things like smbmount and smbfs... Is it possible to mount an NT (4.0sp3) share onto a Solaris 2.6/Sparc? I just grabbed Samba 2.0.6. I suspect not (I don't see any smbmount or smbfs in my samba/bin directory). Will this ever be a possibility? If so, when? And, are there any other options for

NT timestamps; WINS lookup
Two questions. First, timestamps seem to be getting screwed up when I access files on the company's NT server. Someone (using NT) creates some files. My ls -l output shows them as having screwed up dates (ie, 1935, 2027, etc). 95, 98, and NT users see the dates as normal. When I copy any files with cp, the dates change for me, although remain nonsensical, but now the timestamp is also
